Welcome back Rickmeister I have some troubling news for me, I now find that I will not be able to make the trip. Sorry I am going to miss this one guys, the Chancellor of the Exchequer's GDP figures has collapsed, and tax revenues also. Like my body as I reach a new decade, everything around me seems to be breaking down. The sole exception is my trusty RT. I WILL be on the next one. RT
oh crap rt ....that is sad news .....is there anything we could do to help ....besides buying shoot loads of furniture ?
you are one of the lynchpins of the whole southern mob meeting in the same place ol mate ...
your attendance will be sadly missed .....if no one else, but me especially
cheer mate sniffle !!!

Damn RT. that is no good. Are you still open for a trip to Bargo coffee shop? I just had my first real ride today. It was only 90 minutes and about 100 km but it was enough for a first ride after 12 years. Bike performed flawlessly with only one headlight. I am going to have to get some serious match fitness before I leave. rossco

That's not good news RT but I shall look forward to the next one where ever it turns out to be.

Thanks men, you'll be quicker anyway. Rossco, ready when you are for Bargo, we might throw a loop in around the area, let me know when. Monady the 8th Oct is out for me. I just need to stick in the workshop a bit more often, problem has been the nice riding weather always wins. RT
Hey RT. I am pretty much limited to weekends unfortunately. And it does not have to be Bargo. I am looking at google earth to find alternate routes to places outside Sydney. I am so used to main roads now I may have to get a programmable gps so I can plan trips in advance or be forever stuck paying tolls.

Rossco, Mr K., Ainsjac, Col, Keith... My preference at this stage is to meet the Richmond lads at Denman, after they'd had a GREAT ride up the Putty road. Then we proceed to Coolah to meet up with Stan and Col (like we did last trip) and then onto Coonabarabran for an overnight stay and a few lagers.
Then, on Sat morning, rocket across to Narrabri, over the Kaputar Ranges into Bingara. That road is now fully sealed and from reports a great ride. Did it once a couple of years ago in the work Territory and saying to myself "This'd be a great ride if it was sealed..."
I'm a free spirit from Thursday to Monday evening.
Let me know.
Rickmeister.

As Bingara is less than 200 clicks from here, I'll make more of a ride of it by going down to Tamworth then up through Manilla on the Saturday, arriving in time for some sort of tonsorial varnish. Don't think I've been on that road before, so should be fun.
We pass through Coonabarrabran often and stay at the pub at the memorial on the top side. I think its the Imperial, not the one diagonally opposite the courthouse. The publican is a good bloke and cheap rates like $60 for a double ensuite. And Eagle boys is just across the road.

Ulrich_Grabau wrote:Just looking at the map again, we could overnight at Mudgee or Gulgong or Dunedoo or Coolah if Coonabarabran is too far...
Rickmeister, at this point Richmond is too far for me. I will put in some serious miles (probably over 60) between now and the trip to get some match fitness. I think I can speak for Mr Klompy and myself when I say the shorter distance between beds the better. Only problem with that is arriving at the accomodtion (pub) at 2pm and then sleeping the next day till 11 to remove the effects of the previous night.
I do like the look of the narrabri - bingara road.
The thought of 5 of us heading north is somewhat appealing. Guess that makes me keen. Mr K? thoughts? Call me if you have doubts. I am in the romantic stage of having a long ride atm so I could probably do with being dragged back to earth some time soon. rossco
ps. reading the original post, I think Coonabarrabran is the go. Not sure what is at Coolah. To make a day out of it for Ainsjac, staying anywhere closer than Coona'b is probaly just a quick jaunt for him anyway.

And something I just found in google. If you click on the 3D icon next to Driving directions to Bingara NSW, give it a few minutes to load it does an animation of the trip. Cool

Sorry people, have been out of town until tonight. No Rossco, that name does not ring a bell. Yes the orange will be used on this trip, if it shapes up on some little trips. I will fit in with whatever you come up with. I will have to contact Col to see what goes.

The road from Copeton Dam almost to Bingara is mostly unfenced so beware of Cattle and sheep there were plenty when I went through about 10 weeks ago and most other times.

The Warrialda to Bingara road is a better road but I much prefer to go via the dam it's far more interesting for the ride.
