Crying or Very sad I went to change the fuel pump filter the other day. The old filter came off fine. When I went to replace it with the new one, the small plastic mounting ring snapped of like an egg ! Does anybody know of an epoxy that can survive under gas. I tried some stuff that was supposed to be gas proof but it failed. Anyone had this problem ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are we talking about the filter that is actually inside the base of the in-tank fuel pump? At this point I do not know what K bike you have so can only surmise but the old plastic can become brittle with age when immersed in fuel and could be the cause of your woes. I do not have a definitive answer without further details but am guessing that the deterioration of the fuel pump filter would indicate that maybe a complete drain/flush of the fuel tank and a replacement fuel pump could be the way forward. I feel sure that wiser heads than mine will shortly be along to offer further advice Wink

Throw the broken one away and get a new one. I am assuming it is the one in the tank fuel line.

I would not chance any other means of attachment.

Toss it mate, I had same problem and stole one from my spares bike and hey presto, snapped. I bought a new one from Munich Motorcycles over in Perth WA at a very reasonable price (and they are usually a bit steep with prices. I reckon they crack after drying out.
Good Luck

Ken, is it attached to the pump? I've got a couple of spare pumps that need love, could you use parts?

I called j-b weld company today. They said their product can with stand being submerged in gasoline. I just purchased a new filter for 45 dolllars. I have found a way to attach filter to bottom of pump. I think this will work. It's a 89 k-100 rs. Just spent almost 500 dollars on this thing - sure would hate to buy a new pump because of a small sliver of plastic. I will keep you posted SmileExclamation

The plastic mesh fuel filter at the bottom of the pump would be about $22 US dollars, and the normal fuel filter canister about $32 US dollars. But I s'pose in an emergency $45 would have to do for the plastic mesh screen filter...
