The guy on that link is a really nice guy hugely professional and a K rider as well. He fixed my ABS and without question every time I ride my bike I think of him and his fixing my ABS to what is now better than new condition since whilst in there he changed a couple of the components which tend to be a bit fragile. When they were installed as new those transistors were the state of the art, now 20+ years later the state of the art has moved on. I absolutely wholeheartedly recommend you get him to fix your ABS brain if it is actually the brain that is at fault.

Tosi has had my ABS controller and fixed a couple of problems that he found. I just want to prove all of the other parts of the system. Not able to test everything yet as the bike isn't rolling yet.... (fuel pump dead, no brakes!) but when I connected it all up I am showing an error 7 straight away Battery is brand new.

Not sure if anyone is able to have a look and see if there is an error code before the bike is rolling? That may set my mind to rest, but from how I understand it a error 7 is permanently latched rather than self resetting...

From Anton Largiader`s pages:

"You will probably get a fault #7 upon startup after you have left the battery disconnected for a period of time."

I think I won't know exactly until I am able to get the bike moving under it's own power... It should have been today had the fuel pump not given up the ghost!

Have you tried to jump wire the pump (to eliminate other problems)?.............and tested both directions..?

I checked the voltage that was at the pump itself, which is on the low side of 12v which i am guessing is lowish because the Starter is soaking up most of the load and causing the Voltage drop. But I would have expected the voltage to be enough to bring it into life.

I have a spare 12V battery on the bench and am thinking in the morning about connecting it straight to it (out of the tank of course)

The tank has been dry of fuel for a good 8 months now! :| which is why I am suspecting that it has died....

maybe a good soak in some light oil - kerosine might help recover the pump ...its usually the roller cells that suffer from the drying out process .....im guessing you only need to cover the first 1/2 inch of the pump mechanism

Testing it in situ isn`t any problem, as long you don`t place the battery (possible sparks) at the top of the tank.

forgot to mention, I have left the pump immersed in petrol at the moment.... see if that loosens it off over night.....

On the Motobrick forum it`s adviced to soak it in a additive called Techron,
don`t know if it`s available in UK, though.

Usually the rollers work on a clearance of 6-8 microns so even a light coat of rust on a dry pump will cause problems. I had one here that was locked up and used carb and injector cleaner to get it working only to have it squirt fuel everywhere when I hooked it up as the rubberseal at the top where it is crimped was shagged. Any pumps I now store in a container with some fuel to prevent drying out, seems to have worked.
