Hi everyone from Russian K-bike owner (BMW K100RS'90)
Just another topic of "bike doesn't start", but with little intro.
While ago, on crossroad my bike, suddenly, decide to stalled. When I try to accelerate, to prevent it, my fuel hose blew up and poured my knees by gas. I replace hose on a road with wheel compressor one and reach home, with some riding troubles - engine won’t work on low RPM, and strange sound of fuel pump work.
So, I decide to replace fuel pump. Put a new one (BOSCH) from one Russian car with same parameters like original one (doesn't have code around me, but it pretty same as NAPA ones)

When assemble it back, bike do not want to start.
It's possible to start with open throttle, but it run up no more than 2000, and stop when I lose the throttle.

I check the fuel pressure - in a beginning pump raise it up 30-40 psi, then run quickly down, when starter works it easily reach 60-70 psi, but going down to zero quickly. So, it confirms my idea of dead FPR.

Check sparkplug – they reasonable black and sooty. But when I clean one and check, it seems to be ok.

As I can imagine big fuel pressure can make my injectors leaky, so it easiest way to replace them with new one.

So, my next steps are replacing FPR, injectors and sparkplug, but may be I missed something and should look somewhere else?

Any ideas are highly welcome )

hi !

welcome to tthe forum .

i think you are correct with the diagnosis about the fuel presure unit

i would replace yours first and see what eventuates , doing the injectors immediately would be wise also but not neccesary till you have checked the hoses inside the fuel tank ...you may have a created some leakage around the flexible hose between the pump , the fuel filter and the feed pipe ...lets hope the metal feed pipe hasnt got a split in it .
replacing the plugs would help with starting till you get it sorted ...dont thow out the old ones unless they have done a lot of work .

cheers and again welcome

Come on CommanderKewl! this is easy....
I can translate this for you:
Bonjour et bienvenue V Poutine. J'étais de nombreuses fois a Moscou. Vous êtes très courageux de faire de la moto dans la circulation urbaine. Je pense que vous avez une bonne idée sur le régulateur de pression de carburant, mais pourquoi la fuite tuyau de carburant en premier lieu - elle était vieille et fissurée ou votre système fournit trop de pression?

Hi 88KE
is my English so poor, so you decide to answer in my native language? Wink

Regarding fuel hose, yeah, seems it was quite old, and I'm not surpriced it blew up, when pressure going up.
With my not realy rich expirience, I'm wonder, why too much pressure on fuel system do not let bike start?
As I can imagine, if the injectors are good, amount of fuel goes to engine should accurate, independently of big pressure in system?

P.S. Please never use auto-translate services to deal with Russian language ))) the result is... you know... nor Rusiian (just kidding)

The amount of fuel IS dependant on the pressure in the fuel rail. The higher the pressure behind it the more fuel will flow through an opening (P*V=n*R*T). Cool

Time(in ms) is the variable.
The computer calculates the time to open the injectors assuming that the pressure at the rail is constant (36psi).

Even if the accuracy of the translation may not be the greatest, it was nice to try answering in the native language of a member.
88KE made the effort and it must be taken to what it is: Improving the communication between us.
If a French rider registers on this forum, I would also make my best to try to have him feeling welcome and I will certainly ad a couple of French words to my message.

We are only trying to help each others.
