Need to do mine.
The rubber closest to the spring is split on the inside part where it sits on the piston.
My question is, why do you have to buy a whole kit?
Why can we not just get the rubbers and replace them?
Buying a whole kit does not make a lot of sense when I only need one part of it.

Mate it makes a lot of sense to the parts suppliers and unfortunate as it is they are calling the tune and we are doing the dancing.
Check out the brake and clutch places they may have seals that fit

Thanks Rick. A member from Norway? Wonder who?
I took the piston to the local B & R Brake guy and he is sending it away to see if they have something to fit.
I have also ordered the kit just in case.
I have looked through a lot of forums and they all say just to replace the whole lot and for the life of me I can't work out why.
Oh well fingers crossed and I will keep an eye out :cyclops: for the mysterious Norwegian

He is in Finland I am not sure if he can understand me and unfortunately I only speak Australian.
By the looks of the photos he has quite a problem and has most likely broken the swinging arm on the right side. I hope Inge can help it's around breaky time in Norway so he probably will be around soon.

I bought a complete new master cylinder about 2 years back for about $100 and when I got the K1100 it needed one so I sent it away to get a sleeve in it and it cost $120 and then he put brass in and that and aluminium dont get on very well so I dont think it will last long.

I was thinking of a whole new cylinder. Beemerboneyard has them for $129, but it is $41 postage. they only use UPS so postage is a premium.

So are you happy your feet are closer to the ground? RickG2009 Rolling Eyes

The advantage of a kit Rossco is that once all used, you can then say you have refurbished or rekitted the rear master cylinder and all is renewed again. It then becomes a confidence booster to have something on song and ready. but just replacing an outside boot can't really confirm whether the innerds are in need of your ever loving attention.
