If only 2 people can meet and share ridings together, this will be an excellent start.
As the Aussies would say, Good on you to take the lead.
Good luck.

Tony, my friends who organize the meeting changed plan. Meeting is on 14, 15, 16, of September in auto moto camp Solitudo, practically on the beach. Name of our club is Libertas riders. So if you want to come to meeting, or earlier, or maybe later, let me know. Its beautifull ride all the way from Sofia. You will find a bunch of friendly guys here in Dubrovnik, rather cheep beer and wine (or rakija) and nice girls from all over the world.
Weather in September usually is best of the year. Not more traffic at the end of season, but 30 degrees, see at 25 degrees.

Hi Nino,
I see you know one of the most important Bulgarian word "RAKIJA" ...
For me is difficult to plan from today to September, but I'll do my best.

Hi Nino,

Just to let You know that Tony is not the only interested of the event, 'rakija' lovin' person. In fact he doesn't like it at all.

My flying brick is in order and ready to do some long touring, so if we can organize ourselves, we would like to come.

Regards,

Ivo

When we have meeting in Dubrovnik, rakija is on the welcome desk at the entrance of camp Solitudo. Check the Libertas riders on You Tube, and will see.

Greetings from Bosnia!
I hope that I'll be able to join your meeting too, that would be a first visit to Dubrovnik after 1997 when I bought there my first BMW, R 100 RT. What about private accomodation? (knowing the winds on Adria, bura, jugo, and how it can rain, I definitely prefer to have a firm roof above my head and a decent bed, no camping type Dubrovnik Croatia meeting 340248 ).
And if anyone passes through Sarajevo in the meantime, drop me a line...

Thanks for a tip, but I don't own a tent and have no intention of getting one Shocked Sleeping bag is another story, many who rent the rooms hesitate to do it for just one night, because then they have to change the bed linen. If you bring your own sleeping bag, you can sleep in it on the bed. I know weather in September can be beautiful (though, my experiences are 99% along Makarska Riviera), but better safe than sorry.

Hi guys,
The clock is ticking... any changes in organization, dates, places?
Actually I prefer to sleep in bed, after 700-800km.
Nino, can you recommend some place near the camp?

I wonder which way is better:
1. Bulgaria - Macedonia - Albania - Montenegro - Croatia - 730km.
2. Bulgaria - Serbia - Montenegro - Croatia - 790km.

Depends what you mean by better, Tony. Easiest roads or most twisty roads. Looks to me like the shorter route is the most mountain roads.

Either way it looks like a hell of a nice ride.

Tony, I ll check dates with people from MC Libertas riders. About route: I never drove bike through Albania (I was there as journalist 1999) but friends from Dubrovnik often go for a few day ride. They told me Albania is interesting, so if you nevere been there, I propose shorter route through Albania, Montenegro (very interesting too). About accomodation in Dubrovnik will talk after exact dates. Not problem I think.

Look on YouTube for episodes of Italian state TV's RAI "Dreams Road" programme from last Saturday, about motorbike tour in Montenegro, and today, Croatian coast between Dubrovnik and Split. Very informative!

Hi Tony,

Well I watched the original programme on RAI 1 channel via the satellite, and at the end they mentioned how it will quickly ne available on YouTube. I didn't check it myself either - try searching with "Dreams Road RAI", I suppose that should give all that's available.
But as it's a repeat, I found it in RAI's video-archive :-)))

Here's the next episode too, which is a good information source for those who want to ride all the way from Western Europe towards Dubrovnik (only the Italian journalists travelled in the opposite direction):

http://www.rai.tv/dl/RaiTV/programmi/media/ContentItem-9c7d4141-d5a8-4677-a7f1-7fc5de6fcb46.html#p=

It starts with the Peljesac peninsula, continues with Makarska Riviera, the towns of Split, Trogir, Sibenik and Zadar, then visits islands of Pag and Krk, and ends with the Istria peninsula - towns of Rijeka, Opatija and Rovinj.
