OK all you pannier gurus out there, Can I use the later type of locks like on the type 3 panniers on a type one pannier. I dont want to go buying new locks with matching keys and then find out they don't fit.

Pannier locks Norsat10Satelite calling Rick, on the wrong side of earth.

Don`t see any reason that it won`t fit.
If I remember correct (the opposite happens more and more).

Gen.2 was G1 shells with new locks.
G3 was new shells with G2 locks turned 180o.

OG did earlier want to put G3 lids on G1 base (a bit more difficult....but I wouldn`t say impossible).
Did post som close up photos of lock mountings in that thread.

Have panniers of both G1 and G3, did have a set of damaged G2 around..........don`t find them......must have something to do with a major clean out in the workshop some years back.

Could take some more photos..measurent...if you like.
But soon be of to work, would be online late this evening...and daytime tomorrow........Norsat time.

Distance between rivets is similar between the new an old lock.
But on the new one the lock and striker plate is moved 4mm apart, compared to the old.
So it looks like you have to drill new holes for the striker plate, and plug the old ones.

While now sitting down and puzzle with this, I remember that a friend of mine which did own a set of MK.2 panniers (which later on ended up in my workshop).

He did have some small complains about that the locks did hit the recessed edge at the lid when opening them,...which confirms that the striker plate was moved a bit (4 mm) outwards.
