Looks like I'm gonna be a regular on these tetchy pages. The Abs hasn't worked on my bike since I bought it and I knew about it at the time. The brakes as they are now seam to work great. I would like to get it all working, would you very kind and helpful chaps ( wot a bloody creep) care to point me in the right direction as to what to check for their correct operation.
Just a bit of info, bike is a '92 16 valve. I have no lights flashing on the dash to indicate that the unit is powered up, the braking system works very well as is. Thanks , daz

All you should get is the flashing lights before you start moving then if they go out and there are no lights all should be OK.
To test find a patch of gravel or dirt and going slowly try to lock the rear brake and if the ABS is working you will feel it working then maybe try it with the front brake but you do that at your risk. It should be ok, I have done it with the front brake and it did work but to do it deliberately takes a lot it just goes against all we learned from the spills we had.

Me, ABS, never lol .
Rick as fit lights there is nothing at all and the system isn't working as I locked my rear wheel up pulling up outside our house. Ill have to check the bulbs for starters. Is there a fuse for the ABS?
If it was disabled and not powered up I take the brakes are designed In such a way that the brakes work as normal.

They will work as normal without the ABS.
When you turn the key on the ABS light in the speedo should flash and the red light in the center with the triangle should flash in unison. That is apparently not happening. They should stop flashing as soon as you reach 4kph.
Have a look under the fuel tank in the relay box (you will only need to lift the back of the tank and the relay box has a black plastic lid and there should be 2 blue cased relays 1 small and 1 large, if both are missing then I would assume that the PO has removed because the ABS was flashing all the time and it was not working.
What you need to do first is to replace the 2 relays.
This is a diagram of what is where in the relay box.
Abs or rather lack of Relay_10
Have a look see what is there and we shall take it from there.

Cheers Rick, sounds like the same set up as the 1100gs I had. What I'm gonna do is sort out a few simple issues I have first, like the weeping FD seal and general service then ill delve into this problem. Thanks for the diagram, bloody great.
Ill come back to this thread once other bits are sorted. Daz
