Hi team.Just a quick intro.I'm a 49 year old broken down old rugby player from Invercargill New Zealand.A mate bought a very tidy 1983 k100 from Christchurch about 600km away.We drove up to get it and he rode from Christchurch to Timaru about 160km.I hopped on and wouldn't get off and rode it the rest of the way stopping just once to gas up.
Hence i now own a 1990 k100rs low seat model with 57000 km on it.I bought it sight unseen and was expecting some issues and sure enough yep.The after market indicators shorted out and having a 15 amp fuse cooked a bit of wiring.Replaced the burn't wires, fitted the original indicators and put the correct 7.5 fuse in.One fork seal was leaking and the other fork was jammed and thanks to you guys i managed to fix that up.Next was the ignition switch and once again thanks to you guys i sorted that out.Just a pesky dash light to sort now.The code points to a problem with the abs relay.Wanted to check in there anyway after the indicator drama.
Went to Bluff today to try out some rough weather riding.Wet windy and about 8 degrees celcius.Brrr!Struggled with visibility but good learning. So a big thank you to everyone.Been very helpful and highly entertaining at times. Greg

I only met one other person from Timaru and he rode bikes too, Dirt bikes, apparently it's good country for that! Anyway good luck with the bike - may all your troubles be little ones!

love the sound of the burt munro challenge

we have discussed making the trip one day as nz is a place i want to explore more ...especially on 2 wheels,, even had the thought of purchasing a "group bike " k100 of corse and renting it out to each other (at super cheap prices ) housing it around aukland some where ...was just a thougth .

if you can post up some pics mate ...it would certainly be appreciated

mind you i have a commitment to do tasmania first ....we have discussed "tassi in 2013 " and may still happen

88 would that make it "flip flop boy" in the americas .....grin

Haha i knew i should of used k-force for a name but nah i like my jandals. As for getting a team bike they do come up on trade me at not bad prices. There's an 88 lt that looks quite tidy with a high milage 107000km for under $3000.A special edition 94 lt1100 with all the bits and pieces,59000km just sold for $6500.Might be better to get one of the boys to buy one then sell it again later.Might not be too bad with the Aussie dollar but you would probably fall in love with it and want to take it home!
Hi K Bike.Might get up your way one day.Keen to get to Hawksbay next year.
