The K75 quit at the end of my driveway 2 weeks ago, luckily I was on the way home. I found the 20 year old Bosch fuel pump was toast. I replaced it with the Airtex model recommended on the forum including the rubber gas hose surround for insulation. I checked the tank a week into the replacement and found that the rubber had swollen and gotten soft, replace it with another gas tank hose line from a different parts store. One week later same problem, swollen rubber from gas intrusion. I pulled it one more time, removed the rubber completely and made two aluminum straps in a soft z shape that I riveted to the retaining ring and attached to the pump with a radiator clamp. The pumps sits in the middle of the retaining ring and is flush with the bottom of the tank with the filter installed.
I thought this might be of use to someone who like me could not find any suitable rubber for the pump insulator. Sorry no pic's as I did not think to take any before I re-installed the pump.

I figured that out after 2 times, even though both stores assured me that immersion would be ok. So much for local parts store knowledge.

As Charlie said...SAE30R10 (stamped along the hose, along with a pressure rating) is the immersion stuff. SAE30R8 is the fuel injection hose used outside the tank.
