I installed some running lights today and wired in a relay just to make sure nothing was overloaded, and popped my battery charger into the accessory plug to top the battery off and noticed that the charger was not charging. Checked around and found power to the plug but no ground,checked ground from battery to plug wire and it was good?? whats up??Checked further and found that the ground was bad at the accessory plug body, soldiered plug wire to plug body and all is well again. I thought it very unusual that the riveted connection was loose and making poor contact.

Good find and good investigating, better to know of it than not hey. What charger are you running? Is it a set and forget type with really low ampreage? IE trickle feed type.

NAPA with a 2 amp slow and a 10 amp fast. I use it on 2 amp and when the battery is charged it has a battery minder setting (i.e. trickle charger).

From expensive experience with one of those type of chargers I suggest keeping a very close eye on the charging voltage with a digital meter and checking the electrolyte level. I didn't and it dried the battery out and resulted in the battery being non-salvageable. I now use a CTEK charger from Sweden (sold in many countries around the world) and that is just perfect it charges at 800 mA if the battery was flat and then goes into a maintenance cycle. Thanks chris for the feed back, will keep an eye on mine it runs 2.8amp flatout far and away higher than the 800ma type
