Searching for parts I found a decent looking 1991 K100RT tail light assembly and I was wondering if the sagacious had some spice for me, as to whether it may fit my 1985 k100RS befor I throw my money to the ether.

It sure will fit UJ, they were all the same right through to the end of the K1100s except for the K1 I think they were different but I cant quite get the picture in my mind what they did look like.

Hi UJ if you take a look at one of the US online parts lists for your bike you can get the part number then a quick look on that list for the donor model and that will confirm if they have the same part number some list the price which can be an eye opener. That is all assuming the vendor has not made a mistake in the year/model or is just flat out telling porkies.

I have been looking at things like Beemer boneyard, and others for used parts. But I am always open to recommendations. I also depend on ebay, and craigslist. I use a northamerican consolidation program for craigslist called www.onecraigs.com to steer me to different craigslists where key phrases popup. For instance I found a fuel injection controller in Madison for my K100 yesterday. ( I don't need one) This saves me from the shot-in-the-dark method for searching areas beyond the scope of my local listings. Coupled with Climate, geography, money, and individual economic demographics, I have found unbelievable Xmas deals this way. I found my K using this method.

I am astounded by the great community I have stumbled on. Thank you. I will try to give back when I am able to.

K1's got the same tail light as the others.....but I do agree that the different shaped ducktail could make it look a bit different from the others.

Hi UJ,
I was thinking of MAXBMW as an example http://www.maxbmwmotorcycles.com/fiche/PartsFiche.aspx you can look up your specific bike and then group of parts such as lights and then rear light. Another is RealOEM http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do?kind=M&arch=1
