I require a Belly Pan for my 86RS as it has the 89SE fairings present except for the belly pan. Looked on ebay and they seem fairly rare and expensive does anyone have an old one I can use for a mould so I can start making them for myself and others ?. I will return the part undamaged and pay freight both ways as well as supply a finished product back as interest (if it works out) .

Any thoughts please

Halo

If you have luck and get a belly pan, it could be a idea to paint the battery covers at the same time.
Then it getting closer to the genuine -88 SE model.

Thanks Mr Klompy I think if they can be made decently they would be a winner for all of us, once we get a belly pan to use as a plug and we make a decent mold it will then just be about what the raw materials will cost to make correctly, looked at a few vids and looks fairly straight forward

Halo

I ran a stock '88 belly pan for a brief time and removed it. I funneled so much heat up from the exhaust I was literally burning my left leg on hot summer days in California. Removing the belley pan gave immediate relief.

BMW test their cars in late June to early July in Death Valley. They rent out a bunch of suites at the Best Western in Lone Pine and pay the CHP a bunch of money (a charitable contribution they call it, hah) to look the other way when they hammer prototypes at triple digit speeds over Towne Pass during their testing. They need to do similar hot weather testing during that period with their motorcycles.

Kgirl I will take you up on that offer and make it worth yout while some how thanks for stepping up to the mark for the other members as I want to supply these at cost price to the other members. The belly pan will not get damaged as it will be covered in canaba wax. Klompy hows that you get the first one and kgirl, if she wants, the brackets will be intergrated into the belly pan using aluminium brackets and fiber glass.
Halo

Interesting topic. I took the belly pan off my '91 the other day to get access to things. It is in a bit of a state with missing paint and scratches all over it. I could not believe how heavy the thing is and wondered if I could make one form carbon fibre, but will consider that in a years time - too many other things to do first.
The mild steel mounting frame has no paint left on it and is very rusty, so I will design another mount using aluminium rather than try and restore the mess I have.

Halo
Halo, have a look at post #34 in this thread.
That guy came up with a good solution for the missing genuine bracket.
