Just wondering , probably like most , each time you check out new pics. you find it difficult not to glance at the odometer.
why should this be a concern ,especially with such machines as the K.
As much as you always look for low milage machines when purchasing,
think of the ones which really haven't had much of a life, more of a museum piece.

In reflection I was thinking what has been the highest reading , with or without dismantling,
and at the other end what is the current lowest reading.

what would be your average K's ( mileage divided by years ) for your K?

Miene 89' has averaged only 5,130 since new , 87' has averaged 7,480
no reworking on either as far as I am aware. still going strong.

At 26 years old my K-RS has averaged about 5,750 kms per year, but the past four years of its riding life it's averaged mileage at a more rapid pace, of about 18,450 kms per year.

Looks like you're getting up some reasonable touring K's in recent times, good on you guys.
My yearly average is around 7000km with very little touring .

Up until I left OZ last June the RS was my every day rider, so the accumulation of kilometres was a biased mix towards commuting and some touring - although the 18000+ kms in mid-to-late 2010 was made up mostly of my tour up north to Cooktown, then my Ride Right Round Australia. It adds up quickly when you don't own four wheels on the same vehicle!

I've had no car at various intervals of my working life, and for several years whilst working in the states of New Mexico, Washington and Oregon from '96 through '03 without four wheels, and after returning home to Queensland, where I've been happily car-free since 2006. It makes one creative when the weekly shopping needs doing. That's what panniers and a topbox are for.

Almost sadly, I have had to revert to driving: a Mini Cooper S here in Seattle as the roads are often quite wet at night and then icy in the morning. But hey, it's supercharged so that's not terrible! Like flying close to the ground.
