Hi All
just bought a K100RT 1984 to restore.
bought as a non-runner but complete last week, Managed to start it today, after finding the PO had swapped the fuel filter for a cheap plastic (non-FI one) that had split, hence very low pressure and would not run at all above idle, and very hard to start.
I'm trying to get the engine running cleanly before I sprip her down and rebuild.
She starts and runs now, but a missfire is causing rough running and popping sound in plenum.
I was very concerned that she smoked on start-up (the centre stand is currenly broken) thinking that the engine was shot, but a quick search of the forum, tells me that they all do that (mine cleared up after about 5 mins of idling). She has not been started for 3 years.
anyway, start simple with neww plugs and go from there
cheers
Jim

Cheers, Jim.

Stratford Upon Avon? Isn't that Bill Shake's hometown? Wink

Consider running a bottle or two's worth of Sea Foam, if it's on your side of the pond. Especially if you've been running with a shoddy fuel filter.

I ride a '85 RT I inherited from my Dad; I spent about three months replacing every length of hose I could find on the bike and referred to in the Haynes manual. Found a lot of cracked and brittle stuff...

Welcome to the forum, cousin.
