I need to remove the sump on a K11LT, 1991.

Looking at the parts suppliers I can't see a gasket listed. Am I being a thicky or don't they use them?

TIA

A car mechanic (and owner of a 1946 racing-modified Ariel single) I know says that modern vehicles generally don't have sump gaskets, relying on clean, flat surfaces and gasket goop for an area where there is not a great deal of pressure to hold in.

So BMW were probably just a bit ahead of time, there.

Would be very interesting to know exactly how much BMW changed/modified from the original engine design they got from Puegeot....

The Myth that lives forever!
All BMW ever did with a Peugeot engine was use one in a prototype and never went further than that.

Ahhhh right. So its a complete BMW design?

Wonder why that Myth is so dominant in the literature?

They did use a peugeot engine but the story grows with the telling and even when they were released in Sept 1983 the story was giant sized by then.

If BMW were ahead of their time then so were the bikes. The OP has a 1991 K1100LT and they did not start production till March 1992 for the 1993 model year! Time machine?

For the record, production of the K1100LT began 02/92 for those models intended for the US but well before that in 02/91 for the 'rest of the world'.
