I was doing some cleaning under the instrument panel and found a
stainless flat braided cable wraped up with the wires that go down
from the panel under the front of the tank. The end of the cable
has a flat lug connector on it that is not connected to anything.
I carefully unwound the thing (ground strap?) and I had about
12 inches of length to go where? cant seem to find it in any wiring
diagrams. Everything elecrical works fine! My LT had a radio originally
but has been removed by PO.  The cable reaches the left side compartment but It seems too heavy-duty to be for a radio.
It doesnt look like a modification or anything. Where does it go?
Anybody Know?

It goes in the bin.
Unless you have a very large slot car.

Part of an overly zealous earthing program generally facilitated by a local policing authority.

They can be found attched to petrol tanks, the front forks/ steering head and under tank earth point, from one side of the crash bar mounting bolt to the frame and any number of other places the authorities thought may be a source of poor earthing.

From what I gathered it was used mainly on the tank to frame because the Police bikes were getting RF interference from the electric motor on the fuel pump so unless you are using a VHF Radio then it serves no piont so as for RossKos advice carefully follow it and all will be well.

Come to think of it, the PO did mention something about the OO
being a policeman. Must have had a VHF on his private ride

Not really. I had the same head scratching moment as Dale.

As a side note on Police spec equipment, when I priced out a replacement fuel pump from the dealer the "police" model was CDN$850 (supposedly RF shielded), regular was CDN $550. Purchased one from Euromotoelecrics for US$229. Wonder if the alternator I just replaced had a police variant for 4X the cost?
