I just got my k100 last week, and although I promised I'd at least give it a try with the fairing, I'm already thinking ahead about removing it. Is there some sort of sticky I'm missing on removal? Or what needs to be done after to return the bike to useable condition? Thanks!

It's pretty straight forward, just remove the inner trim panels, the screen and the two fairing pockets and you'll reveal the brackets that hold the main sections in place.

Remove the radiator cover and the small gusset piece at the front (underneath) the main section of the fairing. Then the side panels, finally the main upper section. Unplug the lights etc first before removing the main upper.

To turn it into a naked bike you'll have to sort out a headlamp, mirrors and turn signals. You may also find that the wide RT bars are too much on a naked bike.

The parts for BMW's own unfaired bikes will be easier to fit as they were built to take them. Sourcing the parts at a reasonable price is often the issue.
