1Back to top Go down   Panniers from K1100LT fit a K100RS? Empty Panniers from K1100LT fit a K100RS? Sat Oct 05, 2013 9:00 am

A friend in our local club just bought a beautiful K100RS with no panniers.   We are going to a rally next weekend, and I happen to have a set of K1100LT panniers from a bike I'm working on that I could loan her.

I'm being lazy....does anyone know if they will fit her RS?  Her RS is at the dealership getting some wiring sorted, so it is impossible to simply "test fit" them.

Thanks,
Ken

Yes. They can be interchanged between bikes that use the Z-frame (plastic) rails.

are the z frames different?  i recently picked up a sent and they look good on the left hand side (looking rear to front), but the right side one does not line up at all.

1991 K100RS, z frames off a '8? LT

I had understood they are all the same but a 1991 K100RS does have a different right side footpeg plate to clear the paralever swingarm

then I have a pre '91 z frame if anyone want it.  conversely, I need to buy a '91 or later right size z frame (trade would work too)

I've taken the frames off bikes in age range from 1988 to 1993 and there's no difference between them.

The same part number for the frames covers all the K-Series and the R80/R100R models. Only the R models require an adaptor for the footpeg mounting.

I'll take a picture of mine this week (busy baking cookies with my daughter and can't get my hands dirty) to show everyone how far off the right bag hangs on my '91rs with the z frame I have.  I will also take a picture of the number on the z frame for identificaiton.

there's no way that's how BMW intended it to work.

The last 5 digits are 00038 and thats what they all are.

From memory the cases on an 1100 sit out a bit more but I think the left footpeg plate on the 16v RS also stepped out the same as the right.  You may have a 8v left plate and that will make them look uneven.

The notch for the turn signal is perfect on the left hand side.  The right side is lower on the outbound side.  Pics tonight if it's not raining
