A friend told me how to clutchless shift and I finally tried it on my K and its great shifting so much faster. Just curious if this is bad for the transmission or anything?
If you ahve any tips or pointers on clutchless shifting please share also

The BMW Getrag gearboxes don't take well to clutchless shifts. If you keep doing it you will find it jumping back out of gear and either a replacement gearbox or a very expensive rebuild will be required.

To all riders of BMW bikes who have come from a Jap bike, your gear box will last for a LONG time if you take your time shifting gears, just like you do if you have ever used a manual shift gearbox in a car, you FEEL the lever into the gear, DO NOT Jab as you would on a Jap bike.
I grew up on 1960 & 1970 BMW & found on the 60/5 & /6 I have had you can clutch shift IF YOU GET THE REVS RIGHT.
I (not bragging) have done over 300,000 Klm on the 1960/70 boxer twins in my younger day & at least 150,000 KLM on K100/1100 with chair attached & the only gearbox problem I have ever had was a gearbox that had done an unknown 200,000 KLM solo then another 80,000 with me & chair attached to the K100 the output bearing in the gearbox collapsed.

I did a bearing renewal on a K100 gearbox about 2 years ago. It had a known 200 000 km on it and the owner said he actually suspected it was closer to 300 000km. It had obviously been well treated all its life and there were no chips on the leading edges of the dogs and just a slightly polished area at the contact zone on the dogs.
I put new bearings in it because it was apart and the bearings in it were slightly worn and with the same care it had it would clearly last for at least one million km or more.
