I have a stock rear shock on. My bike is way under sprung with the double hrd fitted. My problem is im broke and cant afford a new shock. I have been looking at mono shocks that are the same length. Has anyone tried this? I also want to put a brace on the lower mount for the rear shock. Has anybody got some pictures they could post as I dont really know how it should look.
Thank you

check out "studs, who wants a stud", by ainsjack in frames & fairings.
An elegant solution to a brace! Cool

I know some have constructed the brace in such a way that it allows a second shock mount. Instead of a stronger shock, use 2. No pics sorry.

The paralever read drives are a different shape and you cant use that type of brace. Instead of the flat surface below the nut it's rounded and a brace wont work.
I have been trying to think of something since my stud broke but haven't come up with a solution.................yet!
But I do think it will mean taking the drive to bits.

I look at the curved surface of the paralever diff and couldnt see how it might get sufficient footing. I thought maybe a piece of steel that formed a u shape with the bracket mounted on the stud either side of the shock eyelet and the lower part of th u bracket hugging the curves of the paralever diff. It might take a little while to get it seating right. Thats all I could come up with.

I wouldn't think you could do that with a stock setup. I think the boss where the stud goes has been machined back and the bottom of the shock doesn't look as thick as I recall.
On my K1100 rear drive I have tried to fit a plate there and there is nothing but a very angled face and no where to support it.  Possibly the K100RS16v is a bit different to the K1100 but I don't think so.

Your right rick mine sits out further too. I wonder if the movement created by the paralever action would cause wear on the stud?

Don't know if wear is the word but my stud is bent after last weekend to Nindigully and probably due to break. It was replaced this time last year and has done 8000km.

I actually have a few ideas on it so might do some machining in the next few days and see what falls out of the mill except for swarf.

The pick of the brace seems to have a white power shock ive been looking at putting on. Its off a ktm trail bike and close enough to the right length. Its off a small bike but is a mono shock so the spring should be stronger than stock without being rock hard. The eye width is narrower maybe thats how the bracket was able to be fitted.
