I'm replacing my main loom and ignition barrel loom after a short and fire.

I have the barrel off the bike but how do i remove the key lock part from the base and cables.

I dound a post on here about how to service it all but not how to split the barrel.

Any ideas please?

Mike

There may be a small grub screw under a dot of paint, green I think and that should come out of the lock section

A ignition switch looks a bit different on a 4V than a 2V, but red paint is used
on both...to secure the grub screw that holds the switch part to the barrel housing.

Here is a 2V switch, grub screw is to be seen in third Picture.

There will be a small grub screw about 3mm diameter with a slot to get a small screwdriver in. It is located around the outside of the cylindrical alloy and locks the plastic switch into place. It usually has a small dab of paint over it so the dealers can see if anybody has tampered with it. The top of the screw will be about flush with the alloy.

The reason why i couldn't see it was that the hole was filled with black crap..so i could not see the red paint.  It didn't even look like a hole as it was so full.

The pic above solved it.

Cheers again....now i just need to sort out this loom.

Mike
