Hi all Rossko and I went for a ride to Avalon today which is a quaint little northern beaches spot that happens to have the odd K bike and K bike owner not that Jes is odd but oh well make up your own mind....I think dressing in leather and cooking your arse off on a K bike by me and Rossko is probably far sillier than enjoying the outdoors and tinkering on a 84 RS in the shade.

Hey it's good to see that you blokes battled the heat to help out a fellow K rider in need, hopefully there was a sea breeze at Avalon.

Yeah Smithy, you would think.
No breeze.
And I think leather was the best option. Keeps the hot wind out.

Always good to see another member. Talked crap for a few hours.
Scones and coffee provided.
Good time had.

No videos Mr Klompy?

Think so Charlie.
Jez is trying to resolve a rough running issue.
Might have been a major air leak. Might not.
Compression test showed 2 and 3 to be low and 1 and 4 about the same (good).
Not sure if that means rough running or not when cold.

But in the end he gave us scones and we talked more crap. I think that is an achievement.

And I took Mr Klompy on a lovely little windy road known only to locals.
I had fun. He did not expect it so had a bit less fun. I had fun waiting for him at the other end. Only about 2km long.

Anyhow as Rossko said we had good compression pressure on 1st and 4th but 2 and 3 were way low (95psi) but no change when wet....but previously there was no excessive oil usage or clouds of smoke ( any more than usual )...so I reckon just ride her.
loved the windy suburban race track...which would be better if i knew it was coming and knew it was so much fun...anyhow ready for next time...

Got some more bits for Jez which may assist to get the K back flying.

hmm valves ??? or a bridge in the head gasket seem to be the first thoughts

might be an idea to check clearances ?

but certainly because 2 AND 3 being on alternate firing cycles would make it appear rough

you did have "wot" on all tests ?

Gee Rossko, looks like you were exhausting yourself there, I bet Jez was glad you were there to help.

Yeah Charlie, these question an' more to be investigated next. Well valve clearances anyway.

I've just got a new old set of injectors and have cleaned the TBs so all that goes back this weekend and see how it runs (hope it runs).
What's wot? My mechanical knowlefge is further behind in the race than Rossko's technical lingo expertise. And a head gasket bridge, is that like a breach?
Anyhoo, I only just noticed this thread in the "rides" sub heading, I'll try and keep all technical advancements in the thread titled "Getting this K running right!"

Many thanks to Klompy and Rosskow for coming out (no not the closet) and helping me (they talk and point very well and informatively).

It helps the momentum of one's own progress if only by the jealousy produced by seeing and hearing a couple of very clean K100 pull up outside your house.
(Oh and don't think I didn't notice the 'zorst demo on your departure Mr Klompy)

Cheers lads,

Karry on!
 Laughing

Jez.

Just to chime in here Charlie, the TBs were not on the bike.
Air- hole- cylinder. Nothing in between. So that is a big yes to WOT

I had a good set of Hyundai X3 single cam 1995-1997 injectors which I trialled on my bike and they worked pretty well...am excited to see if Jez has a similar result...they are a cheap and easy to get choice and when all stats check they are the same as Bosch....MR injector put me on to them...could be the answer to all K riders.

There are other choices but few are as easy to get cheaply...on just about any corner that young hoodlums frequent.
