Would anyone be able to tell me whether a 4.5 x 18 K1 rear wheel would fit on a 1992 K1100LT without spacers, modifications, etc?  Also would a 160/60 18 tyre suit the K1100LT?

It will fit in ok. But you will need to modify or remove your centre stand. Or fit an RS one.
The wider front RS rim will fit without mods.
Can't say about the tyre.

I have a pair of those wheels in my garage, shame I am no longer in the UK as you could borrow them.

The stand on the K1100LT is the same for all the 16v models. The only difference is in the mounting which has four spacers to raise the rear wheel clearance from the ground (the OE LT wheel is slightly taller).

The spacers are simple washers and can easily be removed if you want to. If you do, be aware that the mounting screws are longer to accommodate the spacers.

I've opted to delete the spacers on my K1100LT/K1100R and have got some of the shorter screws to be on the safe side.

There are lots of former LT's out there running the K1/K100RS 16v/K1100RS/R1100 (same wheel fits them all) rear wheel and the owners have left the stand alone. It just leaves the rear wheel a bit higher off the ground when on the stand.

Not to my knolege John the centre stand only needs to be changed if you fit the 4.5in wheel to a monolever and it sits 14mm to the left from centre.  The K1100RS and LT have the same stand. I have the 4.5in wheel on my K1100LT and it fits just fine.
The Aussie guys have changed the centre stand because of the out of alignment thing.

Thanks again gentlemen - you are a font of K knowledge.  I have bought the K1 wheel, and await its arrival.
