Wanted! Adventurous Aussies.

I have recently noticed the destination and dates for the 2014 running of this charity ride have been posted. I've not been on one yet myself but noticed the pictures and stories last year and made a mental note to keep an eye out for it this year. It's always good when you can combine riding fun with a good cause.

Mind you I'm not suggesting any of the beloved K's on this forum belong in the scrappers category but you never know what ancient gems some people have hidden in the shed.
I've pinched a couple of photos off their site that might encourage a few amongst us that are inclined to use a third wheel in their travels - I'm sure you'll like them. Have a read of the links - come September some of us might like to participate.

I looked at that a few years ago and then lost touch. I reckon it would be a load of fun. I just bought 2 Ks for well under the 1K  .............Hmmmmmmmm.

Yeah Rick, my K75 fits in the under $1K category at purchase time but I'm hoping it looks better than a "scrapper" when I'm done with renovations. This event might give me enough motivation to get it finished before September.

I imagine the Nymboida part of the world is a pretty nice place.

My 16v RS qualifies for this (just).  Unfortunately I'll be in Tottenham that weekend.  It's a shame, I've always wanted to do this and I now have a bike for it.

I rode this thing on last years scrapheap ride to "Back of Bourke"



For this year I'm reassembling my K100 sidecar for the ride. Not sure if it technically fits under the $1000 cap but it doesn't really matter. This is how it looked for the 2012 Scrapheap to the Snowy Mtns




The fairing disintegrated on that ride, so It'll look a little different this time around.

Its a good fun event for a good cause and worth doing.

Hi Rockman, good to hear that there is an experienced "scrapper" amongst us. Any chance that you are going to Nindigully?
If not maybe I could meet up with you on the way back for a quick chat (maybe even 1 beer).

Not much of an adventure ride for us Guyra folk, Though we could take the long way round, via Megan, Upper Bo Bo , Ulong , Coramba, Glenreagh, then up the twelve sixty forest rd, on to black mountain rd, Kangaroo creek rd , then Nymboida. For those that haven't seen it, the museum of interesting things is worth seeing.
Is a pretty spot Gaz, they also have accommodation at Rusty's Coaching Station Inn.

Cant do Nindigully which is a pity. I'm off to Alice Springs on the 8th for the Ulysses AGM via the Sandover Hwy and back via Uluru, Finke etc, Flinders Ranges, Yunta, follow the Darling North to Bourke and then back home. KLR650 not the K100. Not that fussed about the shindig in Alice, its just an excuse for going.

Smithy , would your RT WIP make it into the brief? 
theres a challenge , how many "scrap" K's can we muster together ?

You're right Rossko, definitely hard to believe he paid that low a price for such a quality sample . and too good to suggest it belongs near a scrap heap.

 The rs wont qualify and the rt wont be ready, I could take the king quad via the back roads!
Though I did enjoy the ride out to Far Cairn last year, good long run to blow out the cobwebs.

Will do. Group of 4. Me, Col, Paul & Robert. Mix of bikes, KLR650, 1200GS, DR650 and 700 Transalp. Will take plenty of pics.

Anyone still going? Not long now. My RS is ready I just need a drive shaft and tyres for rego. I will take the shaft out of one of the others if I have to.

Hey Waz, I'm still keen to go up for it. I had a chance to try the K75 on the dirt on the way in and out of the Alpine Rally and I'd definitely give it a pass mark.

Would be great to go up together. Keep in touch as it gets closer.

My little Suzuki is a runner. I've still got the electrics to sort out as well as a few other issues.  I've registered under "Team Inverell". Usually we get a few from here, 9 or 10 last year. The current plan is to leave from Inverell on the wednesday before and meander our way down the range to Nymboida arriving friday arvo. All welcome if you want to join us at any point.

not looking good for me on this one , due to family committments .
I'll be focusing on the Oz Sidecar Rally instead. sorry guys.

I was making some plans this for year but will have to be next year now, it sure sounds like a good time.

Well folks, it's on!

The Gaz and Waz show is on the road and will be known from here on until this adventure is complete as the "Brick Brothers".

We will be needing plenty of sponsorship for the worthy cause of supporting Down Syndrome sufferers. We will also welcome any other brick riders (in fact any fellow riders) to join our team for fun and fundraising.
Donations can be made on our Scrapheap Adventure web page or the main page here and entering "Brick" in the search bar (note the capital B in Brick).

Waz has blindly jumped in and trusted me to come up with an interesting route to follow so to those who are somewhat familiar with the northern part of New South Wales here it is (note that I haven't traversed many of these back roads yet - but hey! there's a line on the map).



We'll try to put up some posts on the Brick Brothers page as the preparations go along - so come on, support us and/or join us for the adventure.

My little boy has just got his $1000 beast for the trip. Not a brick but it will do, Honda CBR 1000. I think he will have to take his receipt, it's got a miss when ideling that goes away when it warms up. Shouldn't be too much of a problem I hope.

That looks an interesting route Gaz, just wondering if young Waz will be taking the same route on the CBR! should give him some good bike handling skills. Looks like he got a bargain with the CBR Waz.

Yeah it was cheap but it has some problems, should be easy to fix.

Good stuff Gaz & Waz. I'm still 50/50 on whether I take the K or the Suzuki. If I take the K I'll try to catch up with you somewhere on your route. The rest of "Team Inverell" will be going via small dirt roads, maybe not suitable for a RT.

For anyone who is interested. Suits just about any road registered trail/adventure bike. We run one last year as well and it was a good day. Time to get those K75 chookies out of the shed..

The Team Inverell run looks like a good weekend. Hope you get a good roll up for the cause.

Goodies from Down Syndrome have arrived in the mail such as T Shirt, Stickers and the all important paperwork officially authorising us to collect the funds plus some donation boxes that we can distribute in our community.

I'm sure you all have been waiting with bated breath to see what I look like decked out in the official T shirt and will agree that I look stunned stunning in Red. This sort of exposure must be worth more donations (link on post 34 in case you missed it).
