I'll be starting a new job on monday and thought it would be good to catch up with a few of the Hunter Krew , and talk of their eskapades from the Woollamia and Ninja gully Rides.
Thinking of meeting on Friday Morn about 9 at the Heddon Greta mural and mosing down into Kurri for a Koffee. I hear Keith is in need of respite, so who is in ?

the mural in question of the old speedway carries with it many a story , which I'm sure a few of the members here have good memories of.

not likely Sean , but I could take the Kart for a spin just for fun. Hmmmm.  best fit some new rubber to the trailer before the next trip out, getting a bit dodgy.
the local regular coffee house of the Hunter Krew has closed temporarily, so I thought maybe somewhere central for the guys, a venue with an interesting past.
Thanks Charlie, definitely not easy times for many, luckily word spread of my current whereabouts and the job was mine.No questions asked ,except when do you want to start.
one major con against the pro's is I get a company car thrown in , for a 50km each way trip to work ,which means O'l Blue will need to find some other way to get exercise.
daytripping will be one of them. it will help to charge the battery and lube the internals. and satisfy the inner Knut.

I put a new rear tyre on the biKe the other day. Kumho 165/80/15. Now have new rubber all round.
When I was a youngster we used to go to Heddon \Greta speedway. That was when everyone had EJ and EH Holdens and my brother Tim had a Mini Clubman hotted up to the eyeballs. I can still remember sliding sideways in that Mini on the Buchanan rd which was dirt then and getting closer and closer to the railing of a small bridge.......
The local ace used to race a two tone grey Vauxhall at that circuit.

Love to be there Ed but I've arranged to take one of our vehicles down to Newcastle for a service. If I can get a loaner out of them which is unlikely these days, I'll drive over however don't expect me.

Saw hello to the guys for me.

Cheers

Hey Ed, I decided overnight that Koffee at Kurrie is too good to miss so I've rearranged my vehicle service and will be there Friday. I'm not familiar with the Heddon Greta Mural so can you give me a bit more detail on the meeting place.

Cheers

good on you Gaz , if you are coming down the Hunter Expressway, exit from the freeway at Main Rd , and turn right across the freeway , this will take you into Heddon Greta.
as you come into Heddon Greta , glance across to your right , the new subdivision there now occupies the old speedway site.
there is a little takeaway shop on the corner of Main Rd and Young Street at the top of the hill , opposite the pub. turn into the side street alongside the shop. We'll see you there around 9.00.
Sean , it's a shame the iconic landmarks get covered up with developments, almost like covering up the past . hold onto those stories , they will surely keep the speedway alive.
the chap I bought my Tilbrook frame from , once served his time on that circuit, Reg Dunn is his name.He still lives in the local area and still has his Manx.

So happy to be having a day off and going for a ride.

Let the shepherds be right.

Koffee at Kurri 20140510

Warrens work mates seem to think a work lunch is better than a bike ride.
Go figure.
Unfortunately young Warren will not be joining us in the flesh, but he may receive a few updates during the day.
Just so he knows we care.
And to rub in the good time we are having.

Lunch is for a good cause. All the best mate.

Thank God Gaz.

After you left RT's place I said to Waz 'did you hear what Gaz said about the helmet straps?'

'What straps?"

Gonna need a refresher course. They are on the bike. Or in the bike, depending on your bent.

What a top day.
Told the boss yesterday I would not be in tomorrow, I am going for a ride. Just what the doctor ordered.

Blast up the freeway for my 8.30 appointment with GroverK.

Quick run up to Heddon Job Greta to the speedway mural on the side of a chinese massage parlour or something.
Met Gaz and Rickmeister there.

Koffee at Kurri P3010210

I didn't do that. This is what happens if you don't magically wave your spare hand in front of the camera.

Koffee at Kurri P3010211

I can live with it.

Oh, and if you are unaware of the Heddon Greta Speedway (as I was) here is the blurb.

Koffee at Kurri P3010212

Then we got koffee at Ed's new Kurri Kurri koffe shop. Very nice koffee too. I also had scrambled eggs and toast. Cause I could. And a chocolate milkshake.

Then Rickmeister had to go. Bye Rickmeister.

Koffee at Kurri P3020210

Then we had a bit of a bike swap. I rode Gazzaz K75 with the GS bars, Ed rode my bike and Gaz got the Blue Meenie. Only went a few ks down the road to see if Keith was home (he wasn't, but Ed left a gift).
All very different bikes.

Then we found a very special road that turned into an even more very special street.

Koffee at Kurri P3020211

Then we got petrol.
Then we went to Wollombi and I didn't take any more photos.
Until I thought about the Dr Jurds Jungle Juice pudding and realised I did take another photo.

Koffee at Kurri 20140512

So I came home via Central Mangrove and Spencer and Wiseman's Ferry.
Got home at five and picked up a back pack.
Got to Dan Murphys at 5:10.
Got home again at 5:20.
Top drop this one.
Koffee at Kurri 20140513

And this is the way I went. I think.

Koffee at Kurri Clipbo12

Good work Ed and Gaz and Rickmeister. I needed a day off to clear the head and started this one with my lovelly wifes blessing.
Head is clear. Police cars were avoided and I hope everyone has a great weekend.

rossko

ps. Bike performed faultlessly. As it does.

Had a top morning out with some of the forum folk today.
Started off at Freemans Waterhole, meeting up with Rossko for a 20min run up to Heddon Greta Speedway mural , where Gaz was awaiting, ( albeit contrary to my directions), lucky for him . we were running neck and neck there for a while......
Koffee at Kurri 00212

then alas Rickmeister bowled us all over with a late entry.
damn pace car got in the way.
Koffee at Kurri 00310

Koffee at Kurri involved some workshop happenings on the side.
Koffee at Kurri 00712

what is wrong with this picture?
Koffee at Kurri 01011

after farewelling Rick , the decision was made to continue the morning with a ride to Wollombi for lunch.
so we went for Broke , literally...... the tiny township of Broke lies along the twisting picturesque route to Wollombi.
along the way the Krew took the opportunity to doorknock at Keiths ( K75csters). Sorry we missed you Keith and Michelle, left a calling card, courtesy of Rossko.
Koffee at Kurri 01114

had an enjoyable ride through the hills to Wollombi , followed by a reasonable feed.
shared plenty of K wisdom during the day, learnt a bit more along the way .
I now know the difference between a Basic and an LT. thanks Rossko, well worth it.
Koffee at Kurri 01812

We all went our own ways after lunch , Gaz and I parted at Cessnock, leaving me to cruise back past the C'sters residence.
This time he was home.A serve of coffee and bikkies , had us out in the shed to show of his current stage of reno"s on his 75,one proud owner , looking good there Keith , nice colour , almost a Gun metal grey. we even took the time to do a comparo of K trailer hitches, for our Irish bretheren, a seperate thread to follow.

Koffee at Kurri 02010

so all in all a very enjoyable day out. hoping it won't be too long between meets , as Ol' Blue will be out and about less once I'm furnished with a complimentary work vehicle.
Benefits will be , a bit more time available to service and rejuvenate ,  that's gotta be a big plus.
Thanks to everyone for a top day out.

I must concur with my fellow riding companions - another great day out. I passed my first test of the day in finding the mural by ignoring the directions given by groverK. Even got there early enough to get a photo before the sun glare hit the camera. Hope they didn't have too many accidents at the speedway with machines colliding with the airconditioner.

Koffee at Kurri Img_1018

I was getting a bit nervous standing out on the corner in my leather gear with the locals giving me the eye and me looking expectantly up and down the road but I was saved from further scrutiny when a couple of Ks hove into sight indicating they were turning "right" (for your reference ED).

Koffee at Kurri Img_1017

As you have seen, Ed got all creative and had us pushing bikes all over the place until they were at the required angle for the "photo" and the arrival of the Yellow Peril piloted by Rick completed the team. Rick was probably pleased that I had made it so that he could get his hands on my recently refurbished handlebar switches - you see he had missed the opportunity two weeks ago at RT's place because he was laying down beside a red K.

Seanii, I figured even seeing the words "Dr Jurd" would elicit some response from people who may have frequented this area in their early days - not that they would remember any details of those escapades.

I did manage to grab one last (blurry) picture of Rossko in his natural element (you might have to squint to read the sign).

Koffee at Kurri Img_1016

Thanks to all for the good company.

Cheers

" Rossko"

And this is the way I went. I think.

Koffee at Kurri Clipbo12

looks about right ,a fine effort put in for a Latte mate, the Hunter Krew appreciates the opportunity to share some Kulture with fellow bretheren.
the 6h 48min doesn't take into account the wait time for the ferry @ Wisemans either.
also a big take care goes out to Warren C , who couldn't make it along this time , more important appointments were in hand.
Smithy you don't need an invite to come down from the hills , if you do we could try out the burgers across the road .

Koffee at Kurri 10402710
but I think you'll have trouble dragging Rossko away from the Latte's and Eggs.
