Hey everyone,

I've been looking online for quite awhile for BMW rocker switches that will fit my bike for misc accessories.  I finally found some on motoworks, but they're $60-$70 USD each.  Does anyone know of any known fits for the empty dash switch slots?  I'm working on adding an electric windshield, so I need a double momentary contact switch.  For other miscellaneous applications, I just need on/off switches.  I know these can be found for really cheap, like $10 for 5 switches or something.  I just don't know what will fit or where to look really.

Possibly something like this?: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001GH5PWY/ref=mp_s_a_1_12?qid=1401590783&sr=8-12&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70

Thanks in advance!

hard to find the exact size mate

way back then ...many were installing switches ...and usually of their own specification

take for instance the lucas stuff in rovers ...etc

i think the industry has settled on a few sizes these days that are pretty common

i cut into my dash pad to make wider switches fit
now i have a dremel thingy i could cut the reliefs out properly so they sit flush at last ..
just thinking aloud

and food for thought

Hi 007,

My K1100LT has the electric windscreen switch on the dashpad (left switch in the photo) so it is probably worthwhile spending time researching bike wreckers to see if you can find one of those as it would be very tidy if you can find one.
I know a private guy who is a BMW parts guru who has provided me with some odd bits. Let me know if you would like me to chase him up to see if he has one.

Cheers

Hooray, first time I've managed to post a picture from the iPad

I investigated replacement rocker switches when I did my LT windshield conversion several years ago.  Here are URLs that I found helpful:

https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/kbmw/conversations/topics/37791
http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=4812
http://easternbeaver.com/Main/Elec__Products/Switches/switches.html
http://www.carlingtech.com/rocker-switches-sealed
http://www.a1parts.ca/switches/index.html#Rocker Switches  <== Look for text "made for car windows"

Ultimately, I found a local electronics surplus store which had stock on all sorts of automotive switches.  For my application, I needed  a SPST centre off momentary action rocker switch and found one that had the correct dimensions which fit the hole in the K100 (14 X 25 mm I believe).  That says to me that the openings in the dash are a standard automotive size for the time period and switches from that time period should fit because the switch I bought was a standard automotive electric window UP-DOWN switch from a car.
