Hello, everyone! Super stoked to find this forum. I just bought this non-running 1986 K-100. Hopefully this forum will help get me on track.




So, here she is. According to the P.O., she had been sitting since 07'. Last year, he pulled it out to put a new fuel pump in. When he started it up, there was a fuel leak that started the bike on fire. So far, the damage I've noticed is pretty minor; one of the clamp mounts on the air box is ruined; some of the wiring is pretty melty, but I think I can fix all of that pretty easily. I do have one worry, though. I noticed last night that there is almost no oil or coolant in the motor. So... That's my opening story.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll have to check both those out, especially sense it's looking pretty expensive already.   

In no time there will be another K bike in your garage.. Then maybe third one... Welcome!  

Most of them live to go a few more rounds keep at it.

shouldnt be too hard

i agree, a new harness might be a verry big plus to getting started on the right path ...it might eliminate awkward issues later on  and shouldnt be too hard to source or too expensive for that matter

You've certainly picked yourself a challenge for an introduction to K's - hope the restoration goes well and you get out on the road soon. As others already said, this is definitely the source for good advice and helpful hints on where to get the bits n' bobs you'll need.
