Would like to remove the ABS gear/ring from the rear rotor if possible.  Has anyone done this?

You will need a Rear Master that is for non-abs. I attempted to bypass my pump and the master cylinder would not bleed back.

Hi Finnigan,
I removed both of mine recently after fitting new ebc discs.
I heated the disc in my oven for half an hour, then used an angled tyre  lever between the domed disc fixings on the original disc and the underside of the abs ring, working around the rim.
Once it moved, it came off fairly easily.
Hope this helps.
Bob

I apply heat from a butane blow torch and it comes off very easily with a couple of levers to help.  Putting it back just heat the ring and it usually just falls on and then pull the 3 small bolts down to make sure its seated square.
