Went to the flying quarter mile event on a closed road track yesterday.
All was going well until rear tyre deflation at 310kph or 195mph.

Someone stole my hand grenade valve caps.
Valve pin forced away from axel caused deflation.

Feeling lucky it was the rear wheel and bike and I survived undamaged.

I have a zx14r set up with drag maps etc. Average speed on the run was 304kph. Tyre has 1pound pressure in it cold. While hot had 7pounds.
Didn't feel very good.

Next time im down in garage ill see if I can get a photo of the tyre damage.
Lucky rim is ok.

This is an early photo of when I first got the bike.
It looks almost the same now but has performance mods.

I had those valve stems when I bought a zx12r in 2007. They got replaced under warranty repair.
When you start getting a normal valve spinning fast enough the valve pin that you push to release air opens by itself.

I'd recommend to him that he pin a playing card to the frame where the spokes will rake it. Sounds bad-ass (childhood memories).

This type of engine was popular all over the world.
In fact we should patent something like that to clean the spoke wheels when riding.(Replace the cards with brushes)

The first original design had the boosters concealed in the saddle bags, but the saddle bags passed the bike at a speed of 650kmh. No more to say about the stiffness of Z brackets.

Sorry, but Frenchies only use natural gas and you use beans generated gas.

Yes, we accept that the French know the intricacies of how to cook, but with the English (at least in the recent past) it was simply put the pot on the boil or the pan on the fry.

With the Aussies, we had to wait 'til a few generations of Asians came to town before we worked out good cooking.

That might just be a little bit of an understatement

I remember years ago when I was lot madder than I am now I offered to take a friend of my partners for their maiden pillion on a motorcycle ride

Well . . .let's just say I forgot 2 things

  1. That he was on the back when I did this
  2. That there was (still is) a hoary great drop away in the road on the other side of a certain railway crossing

We were on a Kawasaki ZL1000 Eliminator when we hit the crossing @ around 200+ getting very definitely air bourne for probably about 4 seconds at least if not more, landing with a helluva thump as the shocks bottomed out. I rode on and pretended this was normal even though it gave me a heart stopping fright at the time.

When we got back my pillion had brown stuff running all down his leg and I had to hose down the seat on the bike . . .

I apologized profusely to the guy and told him I forgot about the dip, which was the truth. Then, when he had cleaned up we took off south for about 20k's at around the 200 mark, spun around and zapped home again

He stated, when he got back, that he would NEVER get on another Motorcycle again

He, to this day, never has :-(((

Good story, Be Made! He quite literally sh*t himself. What is it about pooh jokes that awakens the inherent little boy in us?! They're always good for a giggle.

The only pillion-off-the-back story I can think of is back in the mid-'70s I had to ride my elder brother to work under our dad's orders because his crappy old car had karked it. Normally he and I got on like cat and dog. He was always agro and too easy to thump me and my younger brothers. So I got him on the back of my Kawasaki and off we went down the road. At an intersection I told him to hang on as I gassed it, cut across traffic and up a slight incline into the next road, front wheel in the air for twenty feet. The silly bugger didn't want to hold onto me and all I saw was a pair of boots pass my ears as he went arse over tea kettle onto his back in the street. Of course he was embarrassed that he'd come off and he never said a word. Just climbed back on with a limp and I dropped him off a coupla miles further on at work.

He hasn't thumped me since.
