I had a small leak on the front brake cylinder and was about to order a new seal kit. But then i noticed that ‘someone’ (previous owner) had screwed with the banjo bolt & fitting.

Heartbrake & the second hole? Brake01

It’s just ‘all bad’ now (technical term). As I heavily rely on good working brakes. I need a dependable version…This is a shame as the cylinder itself is in really good condition.

While cleaning it (before i discovered the 'above shown') I noticed a second hole that appeared to be blocked…don’t laugh. I just can’t tell if it should be a hole through and through or not?

Please put me out of my misery and share your wisdom, then laugh.

that front hole isn't exactly straight through
but yes it needs to be clean ....as it is the equalization feedback hole ....so the main piston can suck back and if needed feed more fluid from the reservoir ...its a pump action so with the cap off you should see some flow through both the holes ...

cleaning with mentholated sprits is the best and preferred fluid that wont contaminate all the fluid lines ...but in any case needs to be dried out before putting break fluid into the system again

hope that helps

The best and easiest way to fix that is to get a stainless sleeve put in and then no more corrosion. There are many brake reco places on Gold Coast and Brizneyland but DON"T use Master Cylinder Exchange Service in Wynnum.

Thanks for sharing your wisdom Charlie, I haven't had the pleasure of pulling one apart so it's all a bit new to me. But that makes sense now.
