I am in the preparation stage for this task

It is my intention to swapout the K100 for the K1100. The K1100 will be using the motronic computer, 1100 coils, TB’s, TPS, plugs and injectors. If I use the motronic harness will that take care of all the engine functions and can I then leave the existing relay box, loom etc intact to handle everything else (lights, idiot lights, flashers, clocks etc) ie. the chassis functions.
Am I correct in just plugging the HES wires from the ignition trigger into the plug in the existing K100 wiring under the tank

Do I just unplug and remove the black box (ICU under the tank) or am I simplifying it too much.

Are there any other features on the 1100 that I havent mentioned and need to address and if so how what would you suggest

Mike

It's not quite as plug and play as you may think.  The ICU for an 8V does not exist on an 1100.
You would be better off using a K1100 harness including the ECU loom and even then there are things like the switch blocks having different plugs and the temp sensor is different despite looks and depending on year model the speed sensor has a different plug.
The K100 and K1100 so look much the same but under the skin they are very different.

floyd,
Have completed the transformation and very pleased with the result. Was very slack not to document anything.
Not a difficult procedure really but I used all K1100 components where I could. To simplify the process mine was just a swap of 100 out and 1100 in. I swapped the 1100 loom in as well complete with the motronic harness and chassis function wiring. The switches I left as 100 and converted the loom plugs under the tank to be compatible, the wiring clour code is the same for both 100 and 1100.
Gearbox, FD and exhaust is K100
