Touring tassie. Yesterday had problem with indicators - worked with ignition on & engine off. Ocassionally wld work ok. Had hazards all time but haven't now. Today got worse - now no indicators or lights with ignition on&  no power to starter motor. Fuel pump works but starter motor will not turn over. This is intermittent also but seems to b getting worse. Checked main earth which was slighly loose - now tight- no change to problem. In Bicheno - no autoelectrician intown. Any suggestions? Indicators not high priority but wife not happy to push start outfit 4 next week.

Check Fuse #7 and the brushes in the starter both can cause that. Don't just visually check the fuse but put a meter across it as those blade types will go O/C and still look OK.
Rocking the bike back and forth in 5th gear will sometimes make the starter work as it will rotate to a better section on the commutator.

Sounds like starter motor brushes to me too. Been there done that, while touring too. In tassie till Sunday week ourselves, if a red Bt50 tries to run you off the road, it's probably me in shock seeing a K100 on the road.

Thanks Al - thanks really not alot of help 2 my wife who now looks like a hungarian weight lifter. However on a more serious note - we can now start bike at will by turning on lights with ignition on & rock in 5th gear until lightscome on, press starter & goes, indicators etc. Will swap starter out tomorrow morning as dark now. Thanks for your help. Bicheno not as planned so far!

Yikes!  For your safety and personal well being, I hope she doesn't visit this forum.  Shocked
