hey all,
I'm looking for an '85 radio head unit, or substitute. Previous owner of the bike had a radio installed, but used the radio slot for a CB radio and took that with him. I'm looking for an AM/FM radio, possibly with CD and/or 1/8" aux plug. Is this something I could just go to Wal-mart and get? and would I need some sort of mounting bracket? Thanks in advance.

My first thought would be do Walmart sell water resistant radio/CD players the mounting location makes them very vulnerable to rain and muck.

Mine just had a normal car radio cassette but mounted inside the left hand fairing pocket and appeared to survive quite well but you would then have to find an original cover.
The other alternative would be an mp3 player with radio facilities that you could put just about anywhere.
Combine that with bluetooth speakers in the helmet and you should be set.
I think now the possibilities are pretty well endless just depending on time, effort and of course money! Smile

Regards,

Phil

Phil's thought is an absolutely excellent one with the capability of mp3 players nowadays that makes them a good choice for us bikers.
