Tough to watch, but  always good never to trust a car driver...or at least that's the way I drive when I'm on two wheels

quite often as I approach a left turn, a driver will be emerging looking left, and the first thing that's going to hit them is coming from their right (at least in this part of the world), and while they are occupied looking left the vehicle will be rolling forward .
It all happens in a split second but it constantly amazes me....and then they think to look right and you see the "oh shit" expression.

I don't know why this particular bad habbit has come about, but I put it down to road pressure and always being in a rush.

I just hope it advert makes car drivers think about what they are doing....look twice or even 3 times I guess

The road accident adverts that get shown here are banned by omission in the rest of the UK as being too graphic. They get made and shown here because we're reckoned to be hardened by thirty years of the Troubles.

Go figure. Actually, it makes me angry because they should be shown in the rest of the UK. Our adverts don't try to hide the truth of a moment's inattention.

You should see our drive-drive and speeding adverts. They'd probably be banned in the rest of the world, let alone the UK. This one's a speeding ad if you can see it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMG-eN1iibY

Try this: go to Goob Chewb and type DOE Road Safety "Bike Aware" in the search engine. Even 'Googling' it will get you to the source.

It must be the Aussie gubmint's new highly restrictive citizen first campaign. Their slogan is something like,

We will show you what to watch, what to to think and what to believe in as you're all clearly unable as a nation think for yourselves
.

Subvert the dominant paradigm.

Glad I'm overseas gettin' a different perspective for a short while.

Can't get it to play here but I've seen enough of those sort of youtube fatal crash vids anyway to make me a very defensive rider. I think it should be mandatory for drivers and motorcyclists to watch some of these as part of their driver/rider training. JMO. Both my son and daughter are motorcyclists and I worry about them because I know the risks (like speeding) I took when I was young.

We had a local fatal crash around here yesterday. 45 yo rider failed to take a sweeping bend on the Tyalgum Rd West of Murwillumbah. A popular ride around here. A tree got in his road. AFAIK no car involved but on an out-of-the-way country road you would'nt know.

It's a well made film with excellent shock value but I have to ask, who is it aimed at?
The driver who doesn't pay enough attention or is it trying to influence the motorcyclist and put the wind up their nearest and dearest?
I think it's more effective for the latter.
Human nature being what it is, the shock value dissipates quickly and, of course, it would never happen to them.
I spend quite a few hours every week sitting beside teenagers who are trying to kill me. Yes, I'm a driving instructor.
Part of my job involves watching other drivers and whether they have noticed me and my pupil. Despite making that vital phone call or updating their Facebook status.
Many is the time I've seen people pulling out of a side road with the mobile to their ear or texting while waiting.
Do any of us honestly believe that these videos will have any lasting effect on these people? Incidentally, I'm not talking about only teenagers. There's plenty of grumpy old gits who are as bad.
So what would be effective?
Maybe a three month ban instead of three penalty points if you were caught using a mobile while driving would make people a bit more aware.
Never going to happen of course. No politician would have the swingers to even suggest it. Might cost votes at election time.
Much easier to throw money at a video and tell everyone how much you are doing to make the roads safer.
Wot, me, cynical?Shocked
