Hey all, quick question.

I'm in the process of moving the ignition switch and getting rid of the pad that covers the bar clamps, can I cut off the wires that are on the rubber pad with the ignition switch? I have 4 switch's on the pad, none work, 2 or already disconnected, so am I ok to get rid of the rest?

It is probably best to follow the wires back and remove them complete with the plugs.

My last bike was like this - bare wires sticking out of the switch holes.

I have since re-soldered them to switches and they now all work (ABS switch and Hazard lights in my case).

+1 that. Remove anything not used but I would have to assume you've got wiring for the hazzard lights there which should be connected.

My bike's PO had a bunch of redundant wiring wrapped in and around the head, some of it leading back to the electrical box which was unswitched power that wasn't teminated. Plus the grip heaters were wired directly to power (unswitched) also. I found I had a small power drain which nearly crippled my battery had I not found it in time.

This is what I pulled out Shocked

"Can I cut these wires off?" - they're your wires, y'can if you wan't but better to take the others advice and unplug. If you do cut leave a tail at the switch so it can be re-soldered. Some bugger cut the Hazard loom on my bike right at the switch there isn't enough to solder back to.

Thanx all, I figured I could just get rid of them as the bike ran and none of the switches worked, just wanted to make sure before removing them.

They got cut and sealed. Couldn't follow them back that far as to get to a block, with time I imagine I could of done but they got snipped back just to see if all was well when they were redundant, any way. To answer my own question, yes, yes you can.
