If you've got an old one that doesn't work, have a look here, they are repairable.

Larrikin, I've just successfully re keyed the seat lock on my K75 to the bike ignition key.

Reason was that the bike had a low seat when purchased & I changed to a standard height seat. I purchased a secondhand seat lock from Motorworks and figured I'd just rekey it like I have done to a few sets of panniers.

The lock came apart exactly like SCP's post except .......
for the little issue that the lock came without a key AND the lock was in the left position (most anti-clockwise). If it's in that position you can't slide the barrel out to file down or change the wafers.
I can now inform you that after several hours and much swearing while making a number of fine flat lock picks I was able to pick the lock & remove the barrel - success!!

I had no previous experience at picking locks - honest, but after that experience I am not worried that any casual passerby is going to steal my helmet.

Mine clicked back together exactly like SCP's using the vice with soft jaws. The biggest risk is losing that tiny position indexing spring & pin referred to by SCP.

Have fun.
