I received a PM from RicK G on May 3rd saying Drake dropped off the site and has been gone a long time. He's also missing from MotoBrick and K11OG.

He has ALWAYS returned my phone calls...this time nothing after 3 attempts.

He's not returning emails or PM's either.

I am now very concerned about Drake.

FYI Drake is a hard core ******(removed by administrator). I know this from spending time in his company. I just thought he was in the *****(removed by administrator) so deep he didn't know what was going on.

He lost his father last year and hasn't been the same since.

Is there anyone that knows what's going on or who is close enough to the PNW that could check up on him?

.

Sorry to hear that about Drake. We all have our problems in life and its always good to look out for someone in times of trouble. I don't mind at all saying that the forum and the guys I have met here was instrumental in getting me out of a bad place too.

Does anyone know where he lives? We could maybe drop him a note to let him know we want him back.

I think everyone here, as well as on ADVrider, Motobrick and K11OG, miss hearing from Drake.  His wisdom and knowledge of this bike marque is truly unique and sorely missed. I also share your worry, Shogs.

A discussion on BMWMOA mentioned that he's not responding to any inquiries through Kbikeparts.com.  There was also mention of his absence in one of the threads on Motobrick and one reply said rumour had it that Drake was in prison.  I don't hold much credence in that rumor.  I think he withdrew from online socializing to reflect on his life following his father's passing (at least that's MY opinion).

Shogs, Have you touched base with Larry R. in Northridge, whether he's heard from him?

I doubt it very seriously he's in prison, at least that could be 100% verified if it were true.

I don't know Larry R.

Knowing him, I also doubt that his father's passing caused him to withdraw. We talked on the phone many times over the months after that. He seemed to have adjusted well.

Drake, while not a daily or even weekly customer, has not been spotted at the parts counter doing business at any of the three Beemer shops in the Seattle/Tacoma area in yonks.

Hi everyone,

I live in Seattle, WA, and have known and been on a few rides with the "Duck" or Drake, he is alive and well.  I spoke to him a couple of times last week, after sending him several "Where's Waldo" emails.

As has already been mentioned, Drake's father passed away last year and Drake and his brothers have been very busy with settling his affairs.  Presently, the Duck is living near Port Townsend, Washington. He is no longer supporting his KBikeParts website (http://www.kbikeparts.com/), though it is still up and running.

For those of us in the K bike world, Drake is among the finest, and smartest, and his technical diagrams and contributions continue to be used and quoted on this and other forums.

His internet connection is spotty at best, but I am sure he would appreciate hearing from y'all.

Cheers,

Wigwam
