What about a few bloody great big whacks of the throttle just prior to cranking the engine over when cold starting? I see accelerator pumps on those downdraft carbies.

Actually, that is what I do..
but once I hit the starter and it catches it wont take anything but none or the slightest throttle or it will die until it is good and warm.. Wont even cough/sputter, just die.

Still havent tried initial starts above 60 degree temps yet, so we'll see as spring progresses..
