pls, I don't have the wrench to remove the oil filter. I've removed all the bolts holding the oil pan but its not dropping, any suggestions?

Also, the sealant available here is Abro RTV Silicone gasket maker & Abro 999 gasket maker. Are these ok?

You don't need to remove the oil pan, only the round filter cover:
Oil Change Oil.filter.cover_small
The oil pan has sealant on it where it meets the sump.

Be careful not to strip the threads.

My oil filter wrench (if it's not turnable by hand) is two screw drivers stabbed in to the oil filter on either side, then turn it loose.  Razz   Then oil the rubber of the new one and turn it till it barely resists.  They don't need to be tight at all.  Even if it wants to unthread from vibrations, the sump plate keeps it from doing so.

i appreciate your comments. I'm done reading the riders handbook & part of the hanes/clymer's. the thing is that your help is quite specific & has always resolved the bikes problems. anyway, i got the oil filter out with a chain. will check the market for a new one, & of course, the wrench.
thanks

Don't do it! If at all possible wait until you can secure a new filter.
No matter what you do in an attempt to clean the old filter it will remain polluted.
Patience over possibly subjecting the engine to undue wear and harm.

I would run the old one with new oil until you can get your hands on the "right" one.  The new oil will help and using an old filter for a couple of thousand extra miles will not make your bike explode.

I just called Toyota Ghana Limited to check on the Ryco Z418, they'll get in touch in an hour. I hope they have it because I teach in @ least three different places in the Accra metropolis, I can't meet these appointments without the motor bike: there is always heavy traffic. If they don't have any, I'll have to use the old one & then pay someone to buy one for me on the forum.

BMW 3 series car filters fit, but they don't come with the o ring for the circular cover and don't come with the sump nut crush washer. If you are careful you can reuse the o ring and the crush washer.

He said "sump nut crush washer". He meant the oil drain bolt in the sump.

Hope this helps.

thanks man, will check the market tomorrow, but has it the pressure release valve? I understand my oil pump may be damaged if the oil filter doesn't have the valve with the right pressure designation.

Yes it has the pressure relief valve, only is set to open earlier (at  low pressure) than the original, this means that you'll have to make oil changes at 5000Km instead of 7000 or 10000.

I don't understand how you know what the PRV on either filter is set at. I also don't understand how this relates to the oil change interval.

Hi, the PRV set point is in the filter´s data sheet. The PRV opens wen the pressure drop through the filter reaches the set point, pressure drop is an indicative of the filter´s cleanliness and hence of the flow that is passing trough it, the higher the drop the lesser the flow, for each model this means that soon or late the valve will open and the oil will pass unfiltered, a filter with a greater set up will take more time to reach it so you can change it less frequently, ie: every two oil changes and no at every one, or you can go with a synthetic oil and make the change at 10000km instead of the 5000 allowed by the mineral ones.
I use mineral oil and WIX5138 filters every 5000 km.
Best regards
JAP

I checked online and the GUD has PRV rated @ 0.69 bar (10 PSI), the bmw genuine oil filter' s is @ 9-11 PSI. that's not much of a difference. I'm yet to close from school to check if I'll get the GUD. Anyway, I plan to use shell ultra 5w-40 full synthetic.

Japs, I located a dealer of Guds & Purolators but he didn,t have the stipulated ones for the K. anyway, I bought a fully synthetic oil (PETROMIN SUPER SYNTHETIC GF4 5W-40), I also found the wrench for removing the oil filter. I flushed it with petrol & reused it with the new oil.
