Howdy All.

Recently acquired my first Beemer: 1992 K100RS 4 valve with 136k miles on her. Never wanted one because they "sound funny", but this seemed like a reasonable deal for a bike with a solid reputation and hard bags, as I use it primarily for commuting.

I'm not a joiner, either, but I've been approached by enough owners who were not with their respective bikes at the time that I thought I'd see what a forum like this is all about.

Incidentally, I had been following a thread about whether or not an "older" k100 still "has it", particularly with 136k on her. After having come to know each other fairly well, I took her to 100mph @ +/- 5900 rpm. I'm guessing she would have moved up to 110 if I pushed, and 120 if I insisted, but I have no desire to do either. I can assure you that she still has it. Smile

I always tell people I'll get another bike when the Beamer dies! My other line is, I have a bike that will do 200kph, I know because I've done it. I don't really need something that will go 300kmh. The other thing about them is they really are an owner's bike. You can do most jobs yourself, sometimes with a little help from this forum or Youtube.

Keep the maintenance up and she'll treat you right. I've found her to be very smooth and steady at 100mph plus (160kph) with plenty of grunt in reserve.
Enjoy the ride Very Happy
