How likely is a stock K75 to make it through the ulez inspection? Has anyone done this test yet....if so, any wisdom regarding getting K's through it?
Thanks!

Somewhere we've had this discussion and the upshot was that one member had to sell his K100 (not K75) because it wouldn't meet ULEZ. I've also seen K100s and K1100s for sale on ebay for the same reason. Given the age of your bike, it's not likely that a K75 would meet it either. If that's a 2-valve engine I see, why not wait until it's forty years old and give Khan the finger? I'd guess you're only a couple of years short of that target. I've just put LFB through it's last-ever MoT and it's a nice feeling knowing you never have to go through that again.

There's always hope though. Attached is a list from Bikesure's ULEZ page showing a couple of elderly qualifiers. cheers Maybe BooG might tune it up and take a shot at it, or get some independent to do a preliminary without costing too much. Smile Five years isn't too long to wait unless, of course, it's your only ride out of town and £12 a day plus the registration fee doesn't seem like a bargain. Don't be. A Kawasaki H1 and H2 are also compliant.

The 40 year rule......so a 1973 4 carb 900 Z1 is complaint, a 1997 K1100 is not.

My reasoning for having a 1983 K100RS!!

One of the UK guys on Facebook managed to get his K75 (and K1100RS) passed.

This is where he went and his comment

No cat required. Now Ulez compliant. No fees to Mr Khan & the k75 is helping protect future generations.

"According to TfL’s website, all vehicles with a historic vehicles tax class are exempt from the ULEZ. Owners of vehicles built more than 40 years ago, which is updated on a rolling basis, can apply with the DVLA to stop paying vehicle tax. For example, when the ULEZ is expanded on August 29 2023, all vehicles built before 1983 will be eligible."

Now that's interesting (note the word built) because the rolling date for VED and MoT is the date of first registration. So this November LFB becomes ULEZ exempt, but is not MoT and VED exempt until May 24th next year.

mot exemption is for year of build , tax exemption is based on year of registration , you have to fill out a form which states mot exempt and take it to the post office ,not on line , when you tax the bike/car . interesting you do not have to prove year of build they take your word for that Smile . example would be year of build 1981 (so you say) year of reg 1986 , no mot required but you still have to pay for tax . Crying or Very sad

Guys,

don't try to find logics or science in politicians' decisions.
That's wasted time. Sad

You'd better go and have a beer instead.

I had to take my Reg Document for them to get the tfl paperwork sorted. I have since checked the tfl site and can see that the k is eligible for the ULEZ zone meaning that yes I can now ride through the zone with no problems.

Unfortunately it’s either 40 plus years old or test it like I did.

I was looking at taking my K100LT into Londonistan this weekend…but might as well take the car and pump out as much diesel fumes as I can into the atmosphere. Costs the same £12.50 a day.

I usually take the train but those overpaid, underskilled train drivers are striking again this weekend because £60k is just not enough money for them to operate an accelerator and a brake (thank goodness they don’t need to steer or adjust altitude).

The Deptford deal looks good, if you live in or regularly ride in the city…but equates to 14 days of ULEZ charges, so not really worth it for occasional visitors like me.
