Folks, need inspiration with regards ECU/CDI (silver brain box) relocation. Having heavily modified my subframe I can no longer use the tray under the seat. I've noticed nearly every where I put the box I can see the fat cable poking out. Planning of having no side panels but reusing the rear mud guard so water ingestion should not be a problem. Any one pics of what they did??

Flat seat no hump. I've been looking at it last night. If I remove the single tab at the front of CDI I may be able to rotate it 90 degrees so the cable is facing forward. Will there be an issue bolting this to the frame? should it be cushioned, will vibrations wreck it? 
Bad vibrations as opposed to Good Vibration!!

I cut part of one of the mounting tabs off my one and mounted it upside down, I put some thin foam between it and the seat pan to try and reduce vibration. 

Just to be safe I sealed around the join between the metal and the plastic with silicone.

Have a look at the bottom of that page on the last photo you can just see the cable going around the fuse box.

CDI refers to a type of ignition system on more modern cars. The unit you're looking at is called the L-Jetronic Fuel Injection Control Unit (FICU). In 2V models the ignition is controlled by the ICU up behind the steering head which you probably already knew.

The FICU is a very reliable unit with no moving parts and is normally secured fairly rigidly under the tool tray, so it is subject to a few vibes under there anyway.

I think the main consideration for its location is that it is kept dry so keep it up high. The unit is not sealed so water can find its way inside easily if the unit is not protected. Also make sure the plug is easily accessible for troubleshooting and cleaning.

Again thanks for the replies. Plan to do something similar rapt with the foam to reduce the vibs.
Loads of jobs still to do like:
cut down front and rear mud guards
wire headlight tail light indicators 
Get tank and front fender sprayed
Spray frame myself
collect seat from upholsterer
Buy and wire a digital speedo!  

So no doubt I'll have a question or two more!!!
