Does anyone know if the Reinzosil brand sealant is suitable for the water/oil pump.
I prefer three bond but it's expensive.

I have been using Permatex RTV Blue for years without problem

Reinzosil sealant is GOOD!
Use it.

I have Reinzosil and was hoping I could put it to some use.
Do I apply a bead or a thin smear. Either way, I find it difficult to understand how either application method will avoid contact with the gears.

Instructions for pump to block joint:  Apply a bead of a thin diameter around the circumference of the pump.  Ensure you put a circle of sealant around each bolt hole.  There is one spot where the sealant must be applied in a way that WON'T seal up a vent hole on the pump.



Install the cover after applying the sealant, but only hand tighten the bolts so that the sealant is slightly squeezed.  Let dry 20-40 minutes.  Then apply final torque to the bolts and leave to dry at least 24 hours and preferably more.

I always apply the sealant to the cover, not the block. Less chance of smearing the stuff where it isn't wanted (in theory).
