Hey!

Normally I build my one earth cable to connect to the gear box and a extra one to the frame under the tank

I don't know the number but this should do.
Battery Ground Neg Earth Cable

Just check the length

Cheers and have a good happy new year,
In Australia they have already

So. I took my time and the result is good

Having taken out the ABS and Motronic units I found the neg cable was a bit the worse for wear
This no doubt was contributing to the ABS fault issue

https://i.servimg.com/u/f37/18/25/10/19/before10.jpg

A bit of time with wire brush sorted that out and a little work with the Dremel cleaned the connector inside

https://i.servimg.com/u/f37/18/25/10/19/after11.jpg

Then it was out with the gas and a bit of soldering got it sorted

All re-fitted this morning and we're good to go

:-)

I'd suggest at some time replacing the failing OEM ground cable with one from an aftermarket auto parts store. Soldering the cable at the lug may compromise its ability to flex at that joint, which will cause it to embrittle and fail in the future. The one I used on my K75 was similar to this:

http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/motomaster-switch-to-starter-battery-cable-4-gauge-0110961p.html#srp

That type of battery cable would be better than trying to repair a failed OEM one because its lugs have been pneumatically secured to the wire  which can't be done at home and the gauge of the cable is quite large, allowing for large ground currents.
