This subject came up after a few people asked me if we were meeting up soon.

The Saturday proved popular but since the Saturday is also St Patricks Day it was felt family commitments and a general closing of villages and towns for parades might not make it the ideal day.

So the question then went to Saturday 10th March or 24th March?

Also where? Stradbally, Athlone or other?

There are some camping plans floating about between Will and myself centred around www.norevalleypark.com for Patricks weekend so some of us will be out on Ks on the Saturday 17th anyway with Stradbally Fayre or Hook Head being an option for us from there.

A sunny Patricks Day also makes Hook Head a very nice call. Good lunch at Hook Head too and a climb up the lighthouse will cure any calorific excesses. Trapper and Electric Monk are only a short run from Hook Head.

22nd March update

10am meet up at Dunbrody Visitor centre New Ross. Coffee/chat/refuel across the road [we pass the petrol station just as we leave] Hook Peninsula route, not a fast road take in eastern side of the peninsula, arrive to Hook Head Lighthouse and café for leisurely lunch stop. Time to wander or climb to the lighthouse...... After lunch back toward New Ross, coffee break out at Dunbrody?

Dublin meet up 8.15 for 8.30 departure Simon suggested Topaz Garage Rathcoole. The one just before the Poitin Still. 8:15 meet for 8:30 departure..

Cork Meet up 7.45am Carrs Hill from Carrigaline travel N25, will allow a stop at Dungarvan at the Waterford side filling station for quick coffee if desired. Meet up Richard at Two Mile Inn, about 2 miles east of Midleton.

Cashel/Pallasgreen: John Ryan confirmed meet us at New Ross.
Galway: Reg, depending on your route you could meet up with John Ryan coming via Pallasgreen. Wear warm gear too.....wink wink.

Weather update is dry but cold start.

Hook Head sounds good and a little different too, will check which dates suit and get back.

I can't do the 10th March, my sister and husband are visiting for the Ireland v Scotland Rugby 6 nations.

10th is out for me, but at the moment the 24th is free.

This is beginning to look like 24th....??


And a few folk have suggested Hook Head as a nice venue.

That allows us possibilities of a nice ride into south Wicklow
or towards the Vee/Aherlow and a coffee stop and home from there...

or the reverse, use Hook Head as a late lunch stop and home from there

or some take a scenic route from Cork,
some take a scenic route from Dublin.

Just floating some more ideas.....

Or Stradbally and a route out from there to a coffee stop. Aherlow or the Vee have not been done from Stradbally and are an option too.

There are some lovely routes to Hook Head, as you said. Along the coast from Dungarven - the gold coast, via Tramore then up to Waterford, or across the ferry at Cheek point.

The cappaquin road back, then up through the Vee as suggested.

Spoilt for choice.

Judging by feedback coming it seems Saturday 24th is a good bet.

Also some very positive feedback about Hook Head.

So maybe we make a kind of early lunchtime meet up at Hook Head? Or an early say 10-10:30am coffee meet up at another point possibly Dunbrody at New Ross and then take in the Ring of Hook and the lighthouse for a later lunch and then home? http://loftushall.ie/map/

From Dublin about 2 hours depending on routes.
From Cork about 2 or a bit longer taking some scenic routes. This looks like 3 or 4 of us on this route.
From Limerick/Pallasgreen also about 2 1/2 hours again depending on routes. Option for us to converge at Dungarvan? Possibly 3 or 4 on this route.
From Wexford....well about an hour....Trapper?

I know 88 can't make 24th so we may make a camping visit another time.

Lighthouse has good parking and refreshing coastline. Lighthouse tour is optional but good training for getting a K on the centre stand.

I don't think I'll make this one but if you are in Loftus hall watch out for the Pteridactyl in the back passage (That's not a Euphemism!)  He got a yank the time I was there...the colour drained from his face!!

Permission has been granted, I'm on for the 24th.  Is this still going ahead?

10am Meet at Dunbrody Café at New Ross for coffee and get us all together.

East for Hook Head Drive to eventually arrive at Hook Head lighthouse.
Lunch at Hook Head Lighthouse Café.

Route up east side of Waterford Harbour Duncannon etc to New Ross.

Cork:
Meet up Dunkettle for 8am. Carrigaline 7:45am?
Dungarvan coffee 9am. Petrol Station on Waterford side of Dungarvan after the by pass, on the left.

Pallasgreen:
Option to meet up with us at Dungarvan or New Ross.

Dublin:
A few interested K owners new to us. Unfortunately Will cant make this weekend. Maybe Simon you might give me a heads up on where one could meet.

Reg has also said he is coming down.

I am not sure if anyone else can make it from Dublin but I am going to try - I need to do an oil change before the run but hopefully the snow will clear in Dublin (I now know how CF feels but at least it only lasts for a few days here).

Instead of Carrigaline @ 7:45, lets make it the top of Carrs Hill (where it widens, just after the ESB road).  Conan can meet us there as he is coming from Douglas - up from said ESB road.

Richard is meeting us in Two Mile House - so I'll txt him when we leave from Dunkettle and he should be there when we pass.

Yep, in any event, it's where the road widens just at the top of the hill.  Myself and Conan should be there.

I'll let Richard know we should get to him around 8:15.
