Hi, out for a ride when this happened - about 10min in to the ride
      - the Battery symbol light came on, the Speedo and Tacho needles fell away [stopped working] it also felt like          the engine had a miss. No other lights on the Insrument cluster came on.
This happened for a 'split second' several times over about 20 seconds.
I was riding with the parking lights on, i turned them off but it still did it.
Continued riding [as one would, having no clear evidence or reason to stop] for about another hour with no                issues.
So where might i start looking ? Im just about to start looking through the our site now.
      Cheers   Dale

Check Fuse #1.  I had a similar thing happen when I had a problem with my heated grips that blew that fuse.

Also check the tightness of the battery cable clamps on the battery, the condition and tightness of the battery's negative cable attachment to the transmission and the tightness and condition of the frame ground attachments.

Thanks for the reply's, i do believe it is fixed and here is the journey.
Obviously i'm missing something, but i didnt find anything in the 'how to section'.
I checked the electrical connections - battery, earth.
         Looked at .eilenberger. site.
Went with Inge K.  Too the Ignition switch...found this...

I thought that a clean-up would be good but couldn't get the Grub screw out. So disassembled it as is.

Electrical - i think Img_2058

Used a very small screwdriver to ease out the Tabs of the inner Black section from the White section

These springs do have a life of their own

Electrical - i think Img_2062

Lifting out the base, the spring and steel ball remained attatched to the underside untill i cleared the unit,
then the ball made a run for it. The place was in lock-down so it didn't get away.

Cleaned it all up and reassembled. Keep the unit upright [i read that hint somewhere]
Helps not to move the key position while its apart.
The inner Black section will only fit one way. The Tabs are different lengths.

Cut and resoldered the wires at the base, connected it, went for a spin and... the problem reapeared.

So... in short, the problem was [Well, went for a ride and no sign of the problem yet...] was with the the connection to the wiring harness [under the tank]. There seemed to be a bad connection.
With the ignition on 'Park light' setting, i could wiggle the connector and this would make the lights flick on and off. So i pulled the connector apart, made sure the wire was connected well to the metal socket and made the metal socket a tighter fit around the pin.

Also, while there, cleaned this end up

So, all clean and with a new gasket, all together, i'm on the road again.

It was a short ride, Kathy made me this...

Not wanting to sound Cocky, might this be put in the 'How to' section, or change its title to 'Ignition switch' for easy reference?.

From what I've seen on threads here and other brick sites as well as personal experience, I would suggest that the ignition switch should be included as a part of the initial servicing an owner does on every "new" brick.
