Can anyone give me a definitive fork oil amount for an ‘89 RS with forks showing S stamped on one fork top cap?
Is it 270-290, 325 or 355 per leg?
I’ve gone with 290 but feel it dives a little too willingly. It doesn’t bottom out but I think it could do with some improvement.

Hello!
Should be the Sport version.
290 will be fine, did you use 10w oil ?

Cheers

Your filling should be OK.
Besides 10w differs from brand to brand.

Yep agreed. I use Putoline in all my bikes and therefore hopefully get some consistency across the grades. Thanks for the info.

Are you riding with the original OEM rear shock?

No, my red bike has a red HAGON rear shock, the color fitted so nice Smile
The black bike has a WILBERTS shock.
I purchased them used from eBay.

The front is standard, the red 1991 bike has the old fichtel & Sachs fork and the black a Showa from 1992.
The springs are standard

Upss just realized you are NOT asking me Mr. Laitch !!
I just woke up at 3am and had to write ;-)

Your thinking could be right, the riding feeling could be related to the rear shock

I should have used the Quote feature, Chocolate, to avoid confusion and leave your sleep undisturbed. Still, it's good to see two nice bikes in your capable hands. Fork oil capacity 112350

It’s a standard shock in good condition.
