Hello, I'm going to build a second K75 combo. The first one is a naked K75 with a rader big EML GT3E sidecar. I've traveled all over Europe with this bike and it runs fine. Maybe you have found my website about the build, http://halflive.hostei.com/index_en.html



The new one should be a litte more playfull. The EML is alost a side by side two seater. The Muturist is a single seater. Moturist is a Dutch sidecar fro the seventies and eighties. Technical design was done by Guzzi and sidecar guru Ed Pols from Amsterdam. The form of the tub was designed by former GP racer Jos Schurgers. The same guy who drew the lines for the Van Veen OCR1000. A fellow Dutchman made an extensive website about Ed Pols and the Moturist. http://www.moturist.nl/

I've bought the Moturist P1 in a very sorry state, but salvageable, for a very good price. The obsolete lights are there and the bucket seat is there and not to bad. The tub was build in 1981 and the glasfiber is a bit cracked here and there. The worst missing part is the windscreen, but it is a single curved screen, noting I can't make myself.

There is a fender with it, it is a little cracked and punctured, it needs some fibreglass.



Here I was viewing the position of the mounting points with a 34cm wheel lead. I could not resist to put the tub up for a second. You might recognize the bike. I bought it from fellow forum member Wheeldigger for a good price as a non runner. https://www.k100-forum.com/t10988-probs-with-k75

I will keep you posted, but bear in mind that I'm not in a hurry, next spring is a nice target.

No real progress. Because it is summer I took the opportunity to remove the layers and layers of paint. Did some major fiberglass repairs. primered, sanded and sanded.
It is Carmine red now, matching the bike, almost.

Yesterday i made the base tube. I cut the balls of another subframe and welded them into a piece of scaffolding pipe.
It is now hanging on two M8 bolts on the engine for measuring. Now i'm going to make a few pieces of square tubing to install where the centerstand was fitted. These tubes will be welded to the base tube. This is the major part of the subframe. The gearbox can take all the forces. On the front will come a cross member connecting the LH engine mount to the base tube.
On my current sidecar i have a tube from the RH engine mount to the base tube. All that does is holding the tube up. In this new design i will make a steel plate over the ignition cover connecting to the new cross member holding the lot at height.

I've been busy last week. The winter was long and wet and i do not have a warm shed. In the mean time my website is moved to a new server so all links need to be altered. I will revise the photo links in privies posts.

This is the current state. We have done a run up and down the street, there is more work to do but at least it is standing on it's three legs.
I have deserved a nap.

There have been some changes. 

The bike with the green petrol tank and red S fairing has been separated from the Moturist. During the overhaul of my K75 with EML I encountered so many issues I changed the engine and swapped the subframe and sidecar. Now I have a good bike with 15"wheels and leading link.
But now I have a new issue. Having a RH sidecar which is more narrow than the privies one it is impossible to see the oil level. Now I have just guestimated the oil, probably too much.

I cannot be the first one having this problem. Has anyone drilled a level bolt or an other way of level indication? 

Nope, mirror does not work. It is impossible to see if the glass is empty or full. I have a car battery between the sidecar and the crankcase. 44AH lengtwise, that is the width. I can get a mirror at a 45 degree angle in front of the spyglass but I cannot get a line of sight for a flashlight. So the only thing I see is a brown circle in the mirror.

I'm thinking of replacing the glass with an aluminium disk with a level bolt or a pillar for a transparent hose. But it might be possible to drill a hole in a more convenient place to install some kind of level..

Inge you are a knowledge base. Do you know the outer diameter of the oil glass or the hole in the crankcase? Then I can buy an ordinary simmerring and make a blind for it.

The inspection mirror have a built in diode, you can get them with more
diodes if you like.



Don't have the diameter for the oil level eye at hand.

That is a rather complicated way to replace a sight glass. I have replaced them om my K75 and on my R1100 just by smashing the window and prying the remains out with a large screw driver..

[edit] I have given in. I've ordered a new glass. Next step is a mirror with a led as Inge showed. I've also heard the option to make a picture with a mobile phone. If the new glass is in place I will try that option also.

Perhaps, although once the milling cutter (No. 11 0 952), scraper (No. 11 0 951), screw sleeve (No. 11 0 954), puller (No. 11 0 953), thrust piece (No. 11 0 955), slip sleeve (No. 11 0 956), drift (No. 11 0 958), drift extension(No. 005 511) and drift handle (No. 00 5 500) are brought into play, it seems like a snap. 

Take a picture with your phone, that works. I had to do that when I broke my centre stand.

Oh, i think i ruined it completely. I just smashed the glass and levered the remains out. Pressing the new one in was a bit of a struggle. Because of the sidecar there was no room to tap the new one in. I had to press it using all kind of filling between the sidecar frame and the glass.

I heard the phone/photo idea before but the only place to see the glass is lying on the ground. I'll go for the mirror.

Little update:
I haven't been able to log on to the forum for a while. Today i discovered the forum does not want to cooperate with the Chrome Browser.
Last year i observed an interesting howl from my final drive. This year i wanted to adress it by replacing the main bearing. With the removal of the FD i could wiggle the brake disk several millimeters. There was a massive amount of play in the FD. Just for the holiday i borrowed the FD from my other K75. The bike performed like a charm. ment well on the motorway and through the mountains of France and Germany.
Off course there is some extra work required after this evaluation holiday The seat is worn out, it needs welding and new upholstery. I need some electricity in the tub to charge a phone.
At the end of the holiday went went through a series of potholes in Belgium and ripped a tire valve. Because this could not be fixed at the roadside this has cost me quite a few bob. This is not going to happen again. I have changed the worn tires and replaced the valves wit solid metal ones. I also replaced the scooter front tire wit a car tire. The scooter tires steers magnificent but wears quickly and than starts behaving like a car tire again. Now i have the seeking effect from day one but save a lot of money on the wear side.
Next job is ordering wrapping foil and see if i can get the bike just as red as the tub.
