Bad luck comes in 2......

Having a great ride through the Adelaide Hills and I notice that the left mirror is vibrating a great deal. I touch it and the thing falls out. After a good half hour searching the long grass, I find it, yessss. On the way home, in the middle of a busy intersection, the other side falls out. Evil or Very Mad "Not happy Jan". That one was run over by a truck traveling behind me.

When I get home, I pull the indicator lense cover off and I can see the little clip sitting in the bottom of the mirror holder. After a quick squeeze with the long nose pliers the clip is tight again. Now here's the thing. How do you getting the bloody clip on once the mirror is in place. Is there a clever little German trick I'm missing.....

Any guidance will be appreciated, pictures help.

Lanyards help with accidental knocks by passersby, or large bumps in the road, to retain the mirror pod to the bike, but don't make much difference if the mirror glass (I assume you meant only the glass fell from the pod) hits the deck.
